This is the confluence of the Green River and the Colorado River. It's a great 11 mile round trip hike in Canyonlands National Park. You'll need an ultra-wide angle lens for this!

SANNIDHI

CONFLUENCE

A dance production with seven classical dances- Kathak, Baratnatyam, Odissi, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, Kathakali

Concept, Research & Direction: Parwati Dutta

Obeisance to the sacred waters is a quintessential element of Indian Culture. In this production , the seven sacred rivers- Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Godavari, Kaveri, Narmada, Sindhu symbolically represent the seven Indian classical dances. A tradition is often metaphorically correlated with a river that flows with time and nourishes mankind. Similarly, our Dance Heritage that had originated thousands of years ago has evolved over the centuries and are intrinsic to our cultural consciousness.

‘SANNIDHI’ is an attempt to articulate the diversity of expression manifested through each dance form culminating with the confluence depicted through melodic and rhythmic interplay juxtaposed with gestural patterns.

The Dance production starts with chants from “Shatapatha-Brahman” highlighting the sacredness of water. Sequences of each river have distinct flavor in music, percussion and movement of respective dance traditions. Selected mantras from Vedas, verses from Puranas, etc. form the literary basis of this creation
