The river in the foreground (looking downstream) is the terminus of the Scioto River. It is a major tributary of the Ohio River, which is in the distance, flowing from the distant left to right (the bridge goes over the Ohio).

Locality: looking south-southwest from the Route 73 bridge in the town of Portsmouth, southern margin of Scioto County, far-southern Ohio, USA

So we left Garrison Dam, not as fully explored at it might or ought to have been (we never got to the powerhouse, for example), to travel to Fort Peck Dam. On the way we stopped at (yet another) Lewis and Clark interpretive center, this one important because it is on the confluence of the Missouri and Yellowstone Rivers where Clark rejoined Lewis after their separate, very dangerous peregrinations on the way home in 1806.

At the confluence of the Rio Grande and the Red River. The last time we were here (in September) it hailed on us relentlessly. This time was much nicer.

Film d'essai (test film) of July 7, of the Canon FD lens 1:2.8 f=28mm with my Canon F-1 SLR (year 1973).

Ilford FP4+ exposed for 125 ISO at developed using Tetenal UltraFin T-Plus at dilution 1+4 for 8 min at 22°C. The film was exposed following the readings of the Canon F-1 or a Minolta Autometer III fitted with a 10° finder privileging the shadow zones.

The Canon FD lens was equipped with a Hoya HMC expert UV-protection filter (55mm) without shade hood.

Tech stuff: From rock solid shade to sunny cloud brilliance was too much for the camera, so this is made up of multiple exposures merged via Photomatix.
