Babe Ruth at Yankee stadium was always a historic moment because he was one of the best baseball players of all time. His bright white uniform and the look of confidence on his face. That is the studium, Babe Ruth himself. Looking beyond Babe i notice a lot of photographers, photographing this historic moment. I see almost every seat in the stadium filled with cheering fans. But I can't help but notice the photographer directly behind Babe with the eyepatch. Why would a photographer have an eyepatch? Can he see well enough through his camera? That is the punctum for me. Wondering why this photographer has this eyepatch, what happened to him? It sticks out more than anything i really see in this photograph.

"Forty years ago, Governor John A. Burns called on the people of Hawaii to “Catch a Wave.”
Today I call on all of you to catch a new wave—of hope, of change, of action—a wave of optimism that will take us to the Hawaii that is always talked about, but has not yet been realized.
It is a Hawaii where we have confidence that our children can build happy and prosperous lives right here in the islands; a vibrant economy where people can afford to live in Hawaii with good jobs and opportunities for all; a self-sufficient island chain where we produce clean energy and healthy food for our own people; a community that devotes itself to educating children, caring for kupuna, and carefully managing our natural resources.
It is a Hawaii where we have restored confidence in a government that belongs to the people. Instead of partisan gridlock, ideological arguments, and endless process, we will rebuild a government that emphasizes solutions and action.
This new wave calls on each of us to set aside differences and to participate in our government. It is a grassroots movement of people seeking information, making their voices heard, and taking ownership. It is a reminder to each of us to live by our values of respect and kindness—of unity and aloha.
I am so grateful to everyone who has been a part of this campaign thus far. So many people have contributed so much to this effort. More importantly, you have modeled a new way forward for Hawaii. The way we have campaigned—positive, empowered, open and inviting—is exactly how we need to be if we are going to bring change to Hawaii."
I thank Mufi Hannemann, his family, and all his supporters for their commitment to Hawaii’s future and for all the sacrifices they made in this primary election. I am reaching out to all of Mayor Hannemann’s supporters with open arms and will do my best to deserve your consideration. You gave him your trust and I will respect that; you gave him your faith and I will honor that.
I congratulate Lieutenant Governor Aiona on his victory and I look forward to debating our visions for Hawaii. He is a dedicated public servant whose commitment to Hawaii I acknowledge and salute.
From the very beginning I have said that this campaign is not about me. This campaign is about you. It is about your vision of Hawaii and the legacy we will leave for future generations.
We are now one big step closer to a new day in Hawaii.
Imua Hawaii!
NEIL ABERCROMBIE"

Be who you are, not what you are told to be.
Do what you want and live life.
Be happy in your soul and you'll be happy in you're body.

Attended a car show over the weekend and I as contemplated a title for this shot, I thought about the Fifties, America in the aftermath of WWII, and the GI’s coming home. Korea and the Cold War were but bumps in the road. Everyone was forward thinking – with confidence and pride. These qualities were always apparent on the car designs from that era. A simpler and more positive time in America.
