January 2022 - Robins Nest - Lin Ma Hang Lead Mines

at an elevation of 40m, the first pillbox is encountered, a large concrete structure, half buried in the under growth but in good condition.
The shooting holes or ‘embrasures’ were directed to the northeast, over what was a fertile valley, but which is now studded with Mainland tower blocks. The box was constructed from good quality concrete, with a small alcove to the right as you enter, before reaching the main firing room.
Robin's Nest (Chinese: 紅花嶺; Jyutping: Hung Fa Leng (former name:麻雀嶺)) is a hill located in northeastern Hong Kong, south of the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen in the New Territories. Robin's Nest is the 55th tallest hill in Hong Kong. The peak is 492 metres
The name Hung Fa Leng (紅花嶺) does not translate directly as 'Robin's Nest' but as 'Red Flower Ridge'.
As of June 2019, Robin’s Nest has been designated a country park, marking a huge victory for historic preservationist, environmentalist, and conservationist efforts. Standing at 492 metres above sea level, Robin’s Nest is the highest peak in northern New Territories and boasts a bird’s-eye view of Sha Tau Kok and farmlands on the Hong Kong side, and the Shenzhen metropolis on the other side.
Robin’s Nest Country Park hosts over 650 species of animals and plants, including the endangered Chinese grassbird—90 percent of its population living in the park. The ecological significance of Robin’s Nest makes this hike excellent for those who are scientifically or environmentally curious! Aside from biodiversity, the hills and valleys that make up the country park also host hidden pockets of World War II and mining relics, with abandoned war shelters and houses along the way for exploration.
Lin Ma Hang sits in the basin of Robin’s Nest. Up until 2016, the village was inaccessible to non-permit holders as it was a part of the Frontier Closed Area. Since then, the village itself has been excluded from the zoning, but the access road still falls within the closed area and requires permits for those who wish to access the village by road. Lin Ma Hang is also home to a feng shui pond, a Macintosh Fort, and the residence of Ip Ting-sz, a declared monument which was built in 1908 and modelled after Dr Sun Yat-sen’s residence in Zhongshan. It was here that Sun Yat-sen met his friends and collaborators for the revolution of China.
The lead mines of Lin Ma Hang started operating in 1915 in the hopes of procuring copper, lead, and silver. However, over the years, the production from the mines proved disappointing. It was rescinded in 1962 and abandoned that same year. It was blown up during the WWII by locals so it won’t be used by Japanese.
It was then declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in 1994 as it became one of the most important bat colonies in all of Hong Kong.
AFCD has since launched a protection ordinance for these bats, whereby anyone hunting or disturbing these bat colonies will face a hefty fine of $100,000 and a one-year imprisonment sentence.
Following that, in 2008, the Lin Ma Hang Stream was also declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest, as it was home to 50 percent of Hong Kong’s native freshwater fish!

Used good condition Model 26 Shakespeare "Classic" Level Winding No. 1972 casting reel. It was old when I got it in the early 1970's and so this reel has been in storage and not used for fishing in at least 40 years. It is in great condition and operates smoothly and cleanly. I believe this reel dates from earlier than 1929 because it has no 2-letter date code. The green handle knobs are in great condition and really nice looking on this piece. Has the "Made in Kalamazoo, USA, Shakespeare, Honor Built, Honor Solid" logo with jumping fish engraved on handle side plate.

The Dataran Merdeka (or Independence Square) is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Dataran Merdeka was formerly known as the Selangor Club Padang, and was originally the cricket green of the Selangor Club (now Royal Selangor Club). It was here, in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, with its Moorish architecture and clock-tower, that the Union Jack was lowered and the Malayan flag hoisted for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957. A parade, in which many Malaysian organizations participate is held every year on Hari Merdeka or Independence Day.
A 100-meter flagpole, one of the tallest in the world, marks that spot with a flat, round black marble plaque. It is located at the southern end of the square. Beneath the newly returfed Dataran Merdeka is the Plaza Putra, an underground food, leisure and entertainment complex.
The quasi-Tudor style timber structure was built in 1890 and remains a place to watch a round of cricket on a Sunday afternoon.
The Royal Selangor Club's Tudor-style building, built in 1890 is in stark contrast to the Moorish Sultan Abdul Samad government building across the square.

Being so:
God no longer is predestining anyone to be part of fulfilling His Plan because His Plan has been fulfilled.
God no longer is appointing rulers, "CAESARS", of nations, who at that time were integral in fulfilling God's Plan, because His Plan has been fulfilled.
Today's "Caesars" have not been appointed by God.
Yesterday's "Caesars" were appointed by God, including Nero, because they, some of them unknowingly, were all "players" in the fulfillment of God's Plan, the "Mystery of God".
Today's "Caesars" are appointed, not by God, like so many naive Christians have been misled into believing, but by those who "have gained the whole world" through lies, deceit and murder of innocents.
Those who own the MONEY are those who own governments and the "Caesars" of today's world.
Render unto God what is God's.
Rendering unto "Caesar" today is rendering to a ruler who WAS NOT appointed by God.

It was a lovely wedding, all the abandonded objects came and had a great time.

Point of view was the main purpose of posting this shot. Because of my height, this is a typical view for me, but I still needed to change my view slightly. I really wanted to capture the length of ice hanging from the unit.
Bonwit Teller & Co. was an American luxury department store based in New York, that opened in 1895 and filed for bankruptcy in 1989.
These boots, c.1910, are made of black leather and white canvas to create an interesting contrasting design. The black leather is decorated with perforated "brogueing." The boots end above the ankle and close at the center front with a black lace through 17 pierced holes, mirrored. Only the holes on the white leather facing is sealed with grommets. The boots also have a cotton-backed black leather tongue. The leather soles have a narrow waist, an almond-shaped toe, and a moderately tall stacked leather heel.
The left shoe bears a gold inscription on the inside ankle; "BONWIT TELLER & CO. / 5TH AVE, NEW YORK," the location to wich the establishment moved in 1907. On both shoes, "4C/ 60872 / 235" is written on the inside ankle on the white twill lining.
Length 9 1/2".
Belonged to Nellie Scranton (1868-1955). She must have worn these in her late 30s or early 40s.
Condition: Excellent, albeit dusty.
