Taken at RSPB Arne, Dorset. Not my first sightings this year but my first images taken. Not in the best of condition but a good sign that spring is just round the corner. Last year was not the best with many species dropping in the number counted within the county so hoping this could be a better start for 2017.
complete and self-contained, whose basic condition is order.

Kestrel - Falco tinnunculus (M)
(Double click)
The common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is a bird of prey species belonging to the kestrel group of the falcon family Falconidae. It is also known as the European kestrel, Eurasian kestrel, or Old World kestrel. In Britain, where no other kestrel species occurs, it is generally just called "the kestrel".
This species occurs over a large range. It is widespread in Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as occasionally reaching the east coast of North America.
Kestrels can hover in still air, even indoors in barns. Because they face towards any slight wind when hovering, the common kestrel is called a "windhover" in some areas.
Unusual for falcons, plumage often differs between male and female, although as is usual with monogamous raptors the female is slightly larger than the male. This allows a pair to fill different feeding niches over their home range. Kestrels are bold and have adapted well to human encroachment, nesting in buildings and hunting by major roads. Kestrels do not build their own nests, but use nests built by other species.
Their plumage is mainly light chestnut brown with blackish spots on the upperside and buff with narrow blackish streaks on the underside; the remiges are also blackish. Unlike most raptors, they display sexual colour dimorphism with the male having fewer black spots and streaks, as well as a blue-grey cap and tail. The tail is brown with black bars in females, and has a black tip with a narrow white rim in both sexes. All common kestrels have a prominent black malar stripe like their closest relatives.
The cere, feet, and a narrow ring around the eye are bright yellow; the toenails, bill and iris are dark. Juveniles look like adult females, but the underside streaks are wider; the yellow of their bare parts is paler. Hatchlings are covered in white down feathers, changing to a buff-grey second down coat before they grow their first true plumage.
Data from Britain shows nesting pairs bringing up about 2–3 chicks on average, though this includes a considerable rate of total brood failures; actually, few pairs that do manage to fledge offspring raise less than 3 or 4. Compared to their siblings, first-hatched chicks have greater survival and recruitment probability, thought to be due to the first-hatched chicks obtaining a higher body condition when in the nest. Population cycles of prey, particularly voles, have a considerable influence on breeding success. Most common kestrels die before they reach 2 years of age; mortality up until the first birthday may be as high as 70%. At least females generally breed at one year of age; possibly, some males take a year longer to maturity as they do in related species. The biological lifespan to death from senescence can be 16 years or more, however; one was recorded to have lived almost 24 years.

A faschinating little shop by this name, found along George Street, along my driving route to work.
I haven't actually been inside yet, just stopped to shoot its title mural along the side of the building.
☛ An Oldsmobile 1958 and a Chevrolet 1948 facing Parque John Lennon in the Vedado neighborhood. Vedado is bordered to the east by Central Havana district and west by the Miramar district, just north of Plaza de la Revolución, the central administrative division of the Cuban government. In early colonial times, it was forbidden to build on these lands to be able to see at far the enemy fleets coming. Hence the name of Vedado, which means forbidden in Spanish.

Before knowing the weather condition of the Himalayan region we should understand its geography. The Himalayan region covers an area of 2,250 km with an average width of 200 km.
The forest belt of the Himalayan region consists of Oak, Rhododendron, Birch, Pine, Deodar, and Fir. And the monsoon season in this region lasts for mid June till the end of September. The Himalayas influences the meteorological conditions in the Indian subcontinent to the south and in the Central Asian highlands to the north to a great extent. It acts a climatic divider circulating the air and water system to a great extent. Because of its altitude and location it blocks the passage of the cold winds coming from the north to the Indian sub continent thereby making India's climate much more moderate. It also influences the rainfall pattern in India. The combined effect of rainfall, latitude and altitude largely influences the forests belts in the Himalayan region. The rainfall is mostly recorded during the monsoon time of June to September but it decreases as you travel from east to west. The snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas stretch 2, 250 km from the Namcha Barwa to Nanga Parbat on the Indus. The range extends from east to west up to central-Nepal and then takes a southeast to northwest direction.

Foggy Morning on the Korana Promenade
Fog in Karlovac is more than a weather condition — it’s a state of mind.
In this quiet, grey morning, a couple slowly dissolves into whiteness, like a thought that still lingers, yet is already leaving.
The Korana promenade becomes a boundary between what is seen and what is felt, between now and what comes next.
Black and white photography here doesn’t seek drama.
It seeks calm. A pause. A breath.
A reminder that even in the densest fog, there is always a path — you just have to start walking.
Karlovac, the city of rivers and fog, has known such stories for centuries.
I merely pressed the shutter.
A serendipitous discovery by the roadside, just outside Forfar. Quite impressive - lovely geometrical layout, tower in good condition.
While not as scenic as Wahclella Falls, Munra Falls gives you the opportunity to literally "reach out and touch" as you cross the footbridge while heading upstream of Tanner Creek.
Unfortunately this scenic beauty was hit by the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire and it will most likely be years before the area is returned to something close to the condition captured here during one of my 2015 photo adventures.
Located outside of Portland, Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge.
Constructive criticism always appreciated.
La Pique d'Endron (2472m), Pyrénées Ariégeoises, France
Type F11 and L for best viewing. You really need to zoom in to see the climbers.
This is a picture of my most recent hike in the Pyrenees, with my son, two of his friends and a mountain guide. As anticipated, my condition was not good enough for the final segment along the ridge up to the top, and I preferred to stay at Pic du Sarrazi, watching them climb and waiting for them to come back.

With roots dating back to 1873, the Rutledge Home name is deeply embedded in the Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin community.
As a memorial to his wife, Hannah, and a desire to provide shelter and care for the aged, Mr. Edward Rutledge, bequeathed funds in his will for the construction of The Hannah M. Rutledge Home for the Aged. Construction took place from 1910-1913, and on May 1, 1913 the home opened at 300 Bridgewater Avenue in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Those that moved in could stay at Rutledge Home for as long as they needed, under the condition they turned over all of their assets to Rutledge Charities upon their passing.

La condizione del blu non è la stessa

La condition du bleu n'est pas la même

De Une histoire de bleu
In its splendid workaday condition harking back to a non-heritage era, Prussian 'G12' Class 2-10-0 No.58 1111-2 makes a sure-footed text book departure from Straußfurt, working diagram DGN88721 08.10 Sondershausen to Ringleben-Gebesse demonstration freight, creating an almost timeless GDR-era scene on Friday 6th March 2026. This is the only locomotive of its class that has been preserved in operational condition and is still largely in its original Reichsbahn condition as when first built in 1921 by the Maschinenbaugesellschaft Karlsruhe.

Juni 2015).
A more train-oriented picture at the vineyards near Retz. Regarding the class 2043: the signs are not optimal and during its service for the Austrian Federal Railways the engine never had a green painting. Nevertheless, the condition of 2043.53 is good. Thumbs up for the wagons: They are absolute authentic for a branch line in Lower Austria - you feel like being set back into the 1970ies (04th of June 2015).
