Memorial Statue for Alan Turing (1912 - 1954) at Sackville Gardens in Manchester. The apple he holds symbolises three things - forbidden love (Turing was persecuted for being gay), the tree of knowledge (He was a pioneer of computer science and was a master codebreaker during WW2), and the tragic manner of his death (He laced an apple with cyanide after his career was wrecked by prejudice). A fitting memorial to a great man.
