Lisa's R3000 laptop had the power plug stop working. It required disassembling the entire thing to install another or use the expansion port on the side for power. Commercial cables for that are $130-$220 and hard to find so I used this homemade fix I found on tomshardware.com forum using an old pci card I cut up, a $3.50 plug from radio shack and part of an old battery holder. Works surprisingly well, if I say so myself. I wish I could have hid the wires for a cleaner look but it works and saved the laptop.

My son recently put together a new system of his own, and I inherited his desktop computer. I had been using a Sony VIAO from 1999. It is still working, but this is an ATHLON AMD-64 based system with, as you can see, a lot of lights and whistles. The side is clear so I can see what's going on. Uh, so what's going on?
