Owns good quality of tone.

Cute little green computer parts that were rescued from the scrap pile...Accented with tiny brass washers & little silver nuts :)

Shot of my current setup. Hoping to be able to move out and into a better space soon.

I added a wood dowel to better support the divider between the PSU & Motherboard area. Cut to fit and Spray-Painted black.

il mio computer non poteva mancare in un mio album fotografico... - Uploaded with a demo version of FlickrExport 2.

This was my first time setting up a new computer without any in-person assistance from friends. Things appear to be running smoothly so far. Going to be setting up my operating system and overclocking the graphics card and CPU tomorrow.

AMD 3.6GHZ 8-Core Ryzen CPU

EVGA CLC Liquid Cooler

G.Skill 16GB DDR4-3200 Memory

2x500GB Samsung SSDs

Fractal Design R5 Case

EVGA GTX 1080ti SC2 Hybrid

EVGA 750W G3 Power Supply

ASUS AM4 X370 Motherboard

With a lot of advice from my friend Peter via chat I got things set up in a way that seems to make sense. I removed all of the hard drive and optical drive cages from the case since I don't plan on using them right away, but there's room if I want to add them to the bottom of the case between the PSU and the CPU cooler. Moved the back case fan to the front and put the CPU cooler right behind it. Graphics card fan replaced the back case fan. SSDs are mounted on the back of the case.

I have a lot of EVGA parts in this computer because many people say their service is second to none. My experience so far has been really positive. They shipped me an AM4 bracket for my CPU cooler for free within 2-3 days of my support ticket.

I got a few RGB parts on purpose to make the inside more interesting.

I wanted the "?" key on the right, but couldn't find it...

I replaced the Vista sticker on my laptop with something a bit more suitable. (Vista is still installed on the computer, but I hardly ever use it.)

The very first true computer. It could do 22-bit floating-point calculations, with an addition taking 1 second - the machine was completely mechanical! I/O was via punched paper tape, and it had limited (but genuine) programmability. In the German Museum of Technology.

Iain has become addicted to playhousedisney.com games. He is pretty good with the touch pad on the laptop too.

Where I spend many, many hours playing World of Warcraft, heh.

the laptop took a spill the other day -- i'm too embarrassed to explain. fortunately, no real harm was done, aside from a couple good dings in the bottom case.

"whew," you say, "at least that's all you have to replace." well, yes, except that in order to replace the bottom case on an aluminum powerbook, you have to disassemble the entire computer -- every single piece must be removed.

this shot is at the 50% ripped-apart phase; as i took this, i was growing more and more concerned that i would not be able to remember where all the cables went. i've delegated so much of my mental capacity to this machine over the last few years that i now feel like a child when i'm performing technical surgery. as i laid the parts out on the workbench, i kept thinking about the day i decided to take apart the rotary telephone in the den and found myself unable to put it back together, puzzled by the intersection of all the pieces.

i was literally sweating when i finally put this powerbook back together, terrified that any of twelve significant parts of the machine wouldn't work because i had forgotten to reattach some cable or screw it down. five minutes later, as it regained consciousness, i felt a whole lot better.

for what it's worth, there were two small screws left on the workbench when i was done. don't worry, though; she's doing just great.

Since I can't tweak my work computer due to company rules I like to have a personal computer next to me for personal stuff. I've been working with Ubuntu lately for fun.
