A vision comes to an end. When I started my current job six years ago this lab was one of the show pieces of the new building for the Applied Computing and Engineering Sciences department. It was a 90-seat open computer lab that was supposed to be the basis for a new teaching model for computer science in our school. Unfortunately, the dot-com bubble burst three years prior before the first students even had a chance to use the facility. Declining enrollment in North America in technology/computer programs decimated our curriculum and only now has our enrollment shown a small bump. This lab was subdivided once before and now it will be again in time for September. At least we'll get our first computer upgrade in six years.
