Jungle patrols with the always present danger of Jap ambushes are very tense.
Here I am armed with the very punchy BAR - but ammo is always at a premium, so you have to use short bursts.

Heroes of the Pacific awards you points for the successful completion of missions which you can then 'spend' on upgrading you aircraft to more advanced marks.
In this case I decided not to upgrade my Hellcat (when I had the points) in order to keep it in British markings.

Various prototype aircraft can be unlocked as you progress through the game - if you can be bother to take the time to do so.
Disclaimer: Don't ask me how this happened, but taking a screen shot in the 'Reply' mode improves the look of the game ten fold! It doesn't look as good as this during normal play! (IMHO)...If it did it would be an OK game, instead of a crap one!

Yes, this *is* a game screenshot! And I don't even have a super-duper really up-to-date gaming PC rig either...So the graphic quality can actually improve on this on newer machines.
Here I undertake 'Boot Camp' - Armed Assault 2's single player training and familiarization segment. Having just been playing Americas Army3 this element of the game looks very familiar indeed, but that's where the similarity between the two games ends.
ArmA2 is HUGE - the sheer scale of the environment and the awesome depth of the detail is stunning, and even a little over-whelming at first.
The game is not without it's problems, but these are out-weighed by the tremendous improvements that have been made by the developers over the hideous first instalment in the series. I have no dought that games magazines will be dropping the term 'instant classic' at all over the place.
I while remain restrained however, until I play more and - most importantly - play the multi-player side of this game.
