To make the game a bit more interesting - and to squeeze ever last minute of game play out of Borderlands - I am currently playing through the game with *just* revolvers!

Well, if there was ever a picture that epitomized my day this is it. Adriana went to Nice with Tati for the weekend, which means time for me to have boy's weekend. Now you would think I would be out enjoying the beautiful spring day (and it was a beautiful day) but not me. I settled down with pizza and computer games, trying to conquer the world one turn at a time.
As a kid I loved playing video games, but as I've gotten older I've not had the time or interest to play much anymore. But once or twice a year I go through a period of digging out the old CD's and firing up my stone age Windows computer. So, happy to say that on Saturday I wasted about 15 hours of my life and successfully conquered the world!
Bird watching TV in the room to the right, sitting in an armchair, and two other birds outside the room. You can see a door between rooms.
Scattered about the dead alien is his ray gun and its rare energy cells. Go easy on these - these are all you get!
Heroes of the Pacific: The first version of the Bearcat available to you in the game is this rather nicely coloured F8F.

Tactical Ops: Assault on Terror was a mod for the original Unreal Tournament.
As a Apple Macintosh gamer (yeah, really!) this mod was our alternative to the PC's 'Counter Strike'.

Very first game with the BF3 BETA - this is what the game looks like. I'm actually quite pleased it ran and in decent quality on my machine as I did have a few issues with BC2 (though not with the code optimized BC2: Vietnam).
First impressions are VERY positive - although on this infantry only BETA map it does feel a bit more like CoD:MW than a Battlefield game. They are running a 64 player vehicle map too now, but you'll be lucky if you can get in one of those servers as they are much sought after!
Graphically the game is very nice, it does have that slightly over-saturated colour palette that they used in BC2 and did remind me very much of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 - in fact this map is very reminicent of one of the missions in GRAW.
Weapons are very nice and I was most pleased to have a AK74M as the default assault weapon (the default assault US weapon is - of course - the M16A2). Animations are likewise very realistic and I love thenew 'vault' animation where your character leaps over low objects. Best of all we have the option to go prone again (much missed in BC2).
Gameplay itself is very fast and furious and the new suppression feature and the blurriness it causes when you come under a hail of fire does add a new sense of realism that was missing in BF2 and BC2.
Problems? Well, this is just a BETA but the server lobby interface seemed very clunky and I had problems working out how to join my mates online (hope they simplify that process). Also the squad organization diodn't seem quite as easy to use as it was in BF2 - but I repeat that this is just the BETA.
We have the BETA available until the 10th and I am guessing there will be a flurry of tweaking on EA/DICE's part going on before the actual release. BUT as BETAs go this was a very positive start and I actually managed to make a few kills (usually my first attempt at a new game is one large whooping session)!
VERY pleased! (Pre-ordering today.)
