I like big heat sinks for CPUs. More surface area typically means better heat dissipation which means the fan can run at slower speeds and I have a quieter system.
Just because this thing was on sale, I ended up with a reject from Batman Forever as a heat sink. I had to pull the entire motherboard and move the memory over to make room for this thing. I also had to remove the top fan from the case.
After a night of testing under full load and the fan set to the lowest speed, temps in my case have dropped from almost 40 degrees to approximately 35 degrees. It looks like the extra work installing this paid off.
These capacitors on this motherboard blew today and filled the studio with a very acrid smell. It was tough to find though because the computer STILL WORKS!! (so far...) UPDATE: The power supply blew. As odd as these look, the mb is still working just fine.

Found this pretty funny, a computer at Circuit City (what seemed to be some sort of display, it was on an end cap) had a blue screen of death.
This actually serves a very practical purpose, when the car lights up I know that the water pump is still working
Wordhang? Hmmm, I wonder what *that* could be.

I have used the colour red for repetition. I have aligned the writing on the left alongside the vertical side. I have used different font types to split up the writing and used different sizes and colour to highlight the important parts for example the contact details.
my desk at work with the new computer. it is a quad core g5 with 4gb of ram, 750gb of hard drive storage, and a 30" apple lcd. i have the full adobe creative suite, macromedia web bundle, apple final cut, and adobe after effects pro. my wee ibook is pictured on the far left.
These guys and I were interviewed through a conference call about a curriculum I previewed for Microsoft. A podcast is in the works. The boys made a video two years ago about use of copyrighted work that my students still remember and can even quote from because it was so funny.

Computers - they're everywhere these days. If you look closely you can see a ship just off our port bow. But if you looked out of the window you would see two ships. Interesting... Read the Torres del Paine trip report
