Some wild verbena photographed with a Lensbaby in Story County, Iowa. I cropped this shot since the sides didn't really add much to this angular shot, but there's still some nice blur at the top & bottom.

A close-up of a colorful lily photographed at the Enabling Garden in Altoona, Iowa with a Lensbaby Sweet 50 lens. I used F4.0 on this shot, so I did lose some sharpness on a few of the stamen, but I thought it was still a decent photo.

An artistic Lensbaby photo of an old abandoned barn on a hill in southern Madison County, Iowa. The late afternoon sun was filtering though the clouds and helped create the eerie atmosphere. In addition to the Lensbaby’s blurry effects and chromatic aberrations, I did add just a little more softness, a light vignette and border.

It’s 93° this afternoon with the heat index at 100, so I thought I would practice a little more with my new Lensbaby indoors. The coffee cup is mostly in-focus and sitting on top of some old sheet music. To the left is a set of ear buds along with the mouthpiece to the old tarnished brass bugle that’s in the background. It may be far from perfect, but I did get some practice in bending the lens.

I have a hard right bend on the lens and it’s tilted slightly up to push the majority of the distortion to the left and down. No macro lens or extension tube was used.

Every time I drive by this sculpture, the iconic song “All You Need Is Love” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney immediately comes to mind. Likewise, this sculpture is also an icon of American Modern Art with “Love” in upper-case letters, arranged in a square, with a tilted letter “O”. This is the signature work of art by artist Robert Indiana. And, if you are old enough to remember, Indiana’s ‘Love’ design was also selected by the US Postal Service as a popular stamp in 1973.
This night photo was taken with a Lensbaby Sweet 50, at the Pappajohn Sculpture Park in Des Moines, Iowa. I used F2.5 with Auto ISO (3200) to get the max amount of blurry lens effects with a fastest exposure time since this was a hand-held shot. Have a happy Sunday and remember, love is all you need.

“Reading was my escape and my comfort, my consolation, my stimulant of choice: reading for the pure pleasure of it, for the beautiful stillness that surrounds you when you hear an author’s words reverberating in your head.” ― Paul Auster

A quick Lensbaby still-life photo taken in my living room with a porcelain tea cup and saucer sitting on a wooden Ethan Allen polygon-shaped end table with some books and a lamp. The window in the back has wooden shades and a thin blue decorator curtain that add some natural light effects to the image.

A Lensbaby photo presented in B&W of a man and woman crossing an intersection in downtown Nevada, Iowa. I’ve bent the lens to a hard left in this shot, catching the woman mostly in focus with the man starting to blur out-of-focus as the lens effect blurs to the right. In my mind’s eye, the lens effect almost makes it look like the man is going faster than the woman. It was about 7°F (-13°C) when I took this photo, so yes, hurry-up Helen, it’s cold out here!

This is heather in our front yard, that seems to last most of the year, but in spring it's this lovely pink. I took this image with my Lensbaby Sweet 45 and a 12mm extension tube.

A small cluster of black-eyed susans photographed with a Lensbaby Sweet 50. The blurry red flowers outside the focus point are zinnias. This JPG is straight out of the camera. The only alteration I made is adding some more compression to make the file smaller so the image would load faster.

Thanks to a dear friend who lent me this lens, I was able to work with the "Lensbaby Sweet 50" for a few hours.
At first it takes a bit of getting used to, because of the tilt-shift mechanics, but once you get the hang of it, working with it is great fun :))

Although I didn't grow this one in my garden, it's a parrot tulip from a supermarket bunch. Past their best but not so noticeable from the rear.

I'm not really a huge lover of oranges and yellows and I'd forgotten I had this piece of orange mount board but it seemed perfect as a backdrop for this.
A Lensbaby photo of a lovely hybrid coneflower with a nice blurry background captured at the Enabling Garden in Altoona, Iowa. It was early morning and the sun was just peaking through the trees by the garden, so I think that I caught some odd light refraction or something on the right-side of the image. Regardless, I think it adds a nice touch.

‘Colors of the Night’ is another Lensbay night photo, this time street photography from the Drake neighborhood in Des Moines, Iowa (just east of Drake University). The camera was handheld with the F-stop set at 2.5 to get the max optical distortion and Auto ISO (2500) for a fast exposure. My manual focus appears to be a little past the young man that is walking down the sidewalk, but I was still happy with this result.
