Landing At Heathrow and Complimenting The Pilot For A Well Done "Greased" Landing

I think the small trees and cattails growing in the boat really compliment the turquoise interior. This is directly across from this: flic.kr/p/rBfrpL

I liked the way that the orange and greens complimented each other in this photo.

Here in the Rural Intelligence region, we are blessedly removed from the land of strip malls. We like our commercial areas to be as artistic as the people and contents inside. And we’re fortunate that New England’s history of mills and factories has left its legacy in buildings begging to be repurposed into centers like the one we’ve just discovered. Whiting Mills, which sits at the end of a nondescript street in Winsted, one of Connecticut’s old mill towns, is a mighty, brick giant whose dusty, historic innards are being transformed into a small business and arts mecca. The four-story, light-filled former factory, known in the 1800s as Winsted Hosiery, is being revitalized into studio space for a wide variety of artisans, small business and retail shops. Paintings, yoga, handmade soaps, model railroad supplies, carpentry, farrier-related products, basket weaving, sculpture, photography, video production and a silversmith’s wares are among the activities breathing new life in the building’s 52 large, airy, studios and shops. “It's becoming a success story," says photographer David Archambault, who also rents a studio there. “My goal here is to have no vacant studios." The studios have been a long time coming. Winsted was one of the first mill towns in Connecticut, and Winsted Hosiery was a small manufacturer of men’s hosiery, later becoming the largest hosiery manufacturer in the state after expanding its product line. Whiting Mills LLC was established in June 2004 when Jean Paul and Eva Blachere of France bought the aging 135,000-square-foot complex and later renovated it.

Tucked in the Kimberley’s World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park, Cathedral Gorge is renowned for both its spectacular beauty and acoustic brilliance.

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra wind quintet presented a programme of classical and contemporary pieces on the day I visited. Their performance showing off the gorge’s amazing acoustic qualities and complimenting the breathtaking scenery. The audience sat on canvas chairs, or relaxed on the rock formations to enjoy the music.

The map location is approximate, but in the ball park.

"Sunny" Bikini is available from Adorsy and also comes with unzipped shorts (not shown). The "Renata" sandals are also from Adorsy and compliment the bikini perfectly (in my opinion...hehe). This pic was taken at Sirens Isle in Blake on the sunbathing deck of my boat.

The perfect seascape conditions prevailed yesterday evening. Lovely, subtle colours in the sky complimented by just the right amount of movement in the water that created very distinct waves trails in the shallow water amongst the rocks. This was a wonderfully peaceful way to spend the end of the day and get back out with the camera. I spend a good amount of time just sitting on the rocks, watching the waves roll in and out. This is the coastline of Portknockie in Morayshire, Scotland.

Autumn is my favorite time of year for landscapes. Obviously, the bright colors contribute to that but I also like the brown tones that compliment the bright colors.

no - not another sunset, but I loved the fact that the colours complimented my previous post!

The backlit grasses seemed to compliment the bird, but also drew my attention to the fact that their legs seem to be shorter than their bill.

2 of 2 - Another view of this fine vintage Cadillac……….and another “bookend” to compliment Vince Montelbano’s exquisite picture viewed here - flic.kr/p/2rktooi

Just a few words. When planning to put this artwork together, I suddenly remembered a long ago picture of a vintage Cadillac dealership I had taken at the Gilmore Museum. It would have been at a Grand Experience event back in 2019. Searching my archives I found the picture I was looking for - the Cadillac dealership showroom. After some rather laborious editing I prepared this scene for importing my latest picture of the 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood taken at the Abbey Farms car show just recently…………and that’s the story folks!

Hope you’all enjoy………….

A compliment at the end of the year. I can end the year with a smile. :)

"Most people compliment the ocean

from the safety of the shoreline

when she is beautiful and she is calm

rarely is she appreciated

when she is brewing with rage

when the calm washes over

and the storm takes its place

but she is beautiful then too."

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. I just love that her braided hair is complimented by a braided hat, enjoy!

massive bolders above and below the surface of Lake Tahoe compliment the lush forest and mountain ranges

This iceberg was the most beautiful blue and the slight pinky hues in the sky really complimented it.

The final two shots in this series, Porto in Portugal. The street photographer holding up the news sheet facsimile had taken a picture of me, shown in the news sheet and I returned the compliment.

Great colours not sure if they compliment Albert docks though but the black building behind does not either.

Being highly gregarious animals, Impala form herds of several hundred individuals. They have a complex social structure and an interesting mating system. I watched these male Impala go through a ritual of face licking before it occurred to me to take a photo of what looked to be a tender greeting between these animals. Seen in Kanana Game Reserve, Botswana.

I have moved this shot from deep in my photostream to compliment the shot of a Sea Lion Greeting, and to demonstrate some of the similarities between them. Animals everywhere have relationships, care about one another, and share moments of tenderness.

Caroline and myself have been exploring The Warren at Folkestone.

This image was taken on a dull morning at low tide. The vast seascape with its rocks and seaweed is lovely with just the right sky to compliment it.

Watkins Glen State Park, NY.

Loved the way the small waterfall complimenting the higher one in the background. And the pool was so compelling I had to jump the stone railings and get wet to capture this

Stroke of green over magenta

I complimented Doreen on her rather snazzy hat which made her laugh. She told me she was just a crazy old lady with no dress sense but thanked me for being so kind. She asked me if I wanted to take her photo which of course I did.

A quick edit one from a recent holiday to Centre Parcs with my family.

Not many opportunities for photos other than family shots, however, I couldn't pass up this opportunity of a misty lake with the swans to compliment!

Thanks in advance for any comments or favourites you may wish to make.

I found this portrait in an antique shop. I hope I did her justice by what I chose to compliment her timeless beauty.

Rocky Mountaineer

Now thats a beautiful train. Fresh snow, 8.9” worth overnight on May 25th at Nederland, official and this late in the year that flock doesnt last long! Still I had some nice snow to compliment this splendid blue, gold, and white wonder. This is the first westbound with proper leaders of the amazing Rocky Mountaineer to Moab, Utah and running about an hour behind due to Amtrak’s untimely departure from Denver and getting my son to school and having my 4 year old along I managed. Fun morning trackside with the Rocky Mountaineer near the Great Divide.

So, Star I love that mossy rock and the way the ferns compliment your colouring, could you go and stand on that rock please. Bit of messing about getting Will out of the way, but ok.

Donkeys are regularly seen with shepherds in Romania. They compliment the deterrence provided by livestock guardian dogs (LGD) from depredations by wolves and bears. What you can't see in this photo are the large number of dogs guarding the flock. So what role does the donkey play?

They are very sensitive to the presence of predators and kick up an enormous and noisy fuss when they approach the flock. They are especially useful at night when it's dark and quiet. That said, they are never used as a substitute to livestock guardian dogs.

Recently I've seen a worrying trend in discussion about replacing LGD's with donkeys because it's believed by some, that they'd be less of a danger to humans walking near to or passing a flock. Yes, a donkey can be incredibly feisty and noisy but they are no match for a top apex predator.

Even LGD's are occasionally killed by wolves if not adequate in numbers and strength, so what chance would donkeys have? Shepherds have honed their skills over generations of experience, so the necessary knowledge on how to effectively protect livestock is already available to anyone wanting to learn more.

Street portrait from Glasgow, Scotland. I approached, complimented and asked this guy for a portrait in the city and he refused, telling me that he was camera shy. As I thanked him, wished him a great weekend and started to turn he changed his mind - telling me to 'oh go on then'. Approach is everything. I told him that he looked fantastic in his tartan suit and green Dr Martens boots and it made his day - he couldn't thank me enough. Enjoy!

Complimentary Colours

Well last time we did complimentary colours for SSC I got somewhat carried away ( see first comment box please ) - this time I have chosen to keep it simple and just inside the door of the little local supermarket there are always some flowers for sale . A quick check and yes , there are some mixed flowers with some yellow and purple mixed together - snap and a shot taken - I expect by now they have already started to wilt . Well for a sight and sound ,

I guess anything by " Deep Purple " should do . However , I am not going to go with some of the classics , ie

Smoke On The Water

Burn

Highway Star

Child In Time

Fireball

Perfect Strangers

Space Truckin'

Strange Kinda Woman

Black Knight

And the list goes on - but for me I will choose --

Pictures Of Home , mainly to hear Jon Lord cooking on the Hammond .

And for an extra track , a splendid tribute track to Jon by Blackmore's Night

The tiny Brown Creeper makes its living by gleaning insects from the trunks of trees, and as noted on the American Bird Conservancy Web site, these birds have a distinctive feeding style: "Starting at the bottom of a tree, it creeps up; when it reaches the top of the tree, it flutters down to the base of the next and begins circling up again. It never descends trees head-first like a nuthatch—this bird is always moving upward!"

Vibrant greens on the beach nicely complimenting the colours of the buildings :)

I love how plants grow together and compliment each other. The desert yellow and the blue of the agave seem to belong together.
