Today I met Photographer and Educator Serge Ramelli at El Matador State Beach. I was setup in a spot along the shore working on exposures when he setup up his tripod right next to me and ask "Am I in your composition" The second I heard his voice I knew it was him, I looked him right in the eye and said, "Serge" He said yes. I said Serge Ramelli He said "Yes" Wow!!! The world just keeps getting smaller and smaller. I have seen over 100 of his movies on photography and processing on the internet. Well after the panic subsided, we shared several minutes chatting, He had mentioned that he had been at Laguna Beach previously so I asked him if he's seen the pirates tower at victoria beach. I proceeded to show him a shot of the tower and some other choice spots from LaJolla and CDM. He was kind enough to compliment me on my photography, but then again he might have just been being friendly which is the more likely scenario. :) He is a very nice guy and very charismatic and personable and I took the opportunity to snap a selfie with him. He took my name and said he would check my stuff out. Serge, what your seeing here is a direct result of your video training series. Thanks for producing such a fantastic series of tutorials. :)
You can see Serge's Ramelli's excellent line of products here.
I was setup here hoping that the sun would pop through the clouds at the last minute, but it didn't happen. I'm so glad I ran into Serge Ramelli there or the 2 hour trip would have been in vain. Thanks again Serge it was so nice to meet you. :)
And thank you, for taking the time to visit and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week. :)
If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

I left Bryce Canyon and took the 45 min drive over to Kodachrome Basin State Park, in Escalante, Utah. The close proximity of this region allowed me to enjoy another afternoon in Bryce Canyon while also allowing me plenty of time to scout this area for the evenings composition. This spot caught my eye so I pulled out a folding chair and my iPad to read more from my book " Guide to The National Parks of the Southwest" which I had downloaded prior to the trip. As I sat here to relax, a wash of peaceful calm surrounded me and I enjoyed myself just sitting there in the present, not thinking at all about the past or the future, I watched the high clouds drift to and fro in the sky, and waited to see if some of them would grace my location and compliment the scene. I wasn't running around like I always do, knowing that I still had another day for exploration here.
This rift is a space in time that is depicted by a red strip of mother earth called the Entrada Layer. The Entrada was formed from deposits that were laid down during the mid-to-late Jurassic Period, approximately 140 to 180 milllion years ago. This thin strip took approx. 10 million years to create. It is primarily composed of fine grained sandstone along with gypsum, shale, quartz and clay. This formation is one of the most scenic in the park due to its color. It also forms the ubiquitous “slickrock” of southern Utah. Most of the sedimentary pipes found within the park occur in this formation. :)
Again, thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great evening everybody!! :)

Using the freshest seafood from the loch of the same name (the longest sea loch in Scotland), Loch Fyne restaurants serve a variety of shellfish and smoked fish - all of which are complimented by an extensive wine list. Non-seafood dishes are also available
I can recommend Loch Fyne Kipper's for me they are the best you will have.

If there is one thing I miss after moving from California, it's the abundance of oak trees. I managed to take a short hike on my final day of caring for my brother (currently having health problems related to his Parkinson's) in Concord, and this lone oak really caught my eye. It was lit just right, and it's shape was complimented with the angles of the golden hills surrounding it. One of the rare instances when I couldn't improve the image with cropping during processing. Sometimes I actually get it right in camera! Maybe I'm finally getting good at this hobby.
I really loved this tree ! It was really photogenic , I made a lot of photos from this tree.. Do you still know all the tree photos I made before? Well, someone told me; not only you love trees, the trees also loves you.. well, I saw that as a compliment, and I hope I made that thing true :-)

July 22, a new creative free space opened in the centre of Zaandam at Oostkade 10-12. Each month, the space will feature two artists complimenting each other in some way. Artists Leon van Wijk and Victor van Tienen take the spotlight. The location on Oostkade was already an artsy place. Until recently, it was the studio of Kinga Wieczorek.
About half an hour before sunset the warm light was a beautiful compliment to the blue sky and reflections at Princess Point in the Royal Botanical Gardens. RBG, Dundas/Hamilton, Ontario
A spectacular October day on the lake yesterday, resulting in what was probably my longest paddle of the season. What few breezes arose quickly died down allowing easy going and pleasing reflections of the enduring colors at every turn...and resulting in far too many photos to quickly evaluate properly. This was one of the first, complimented by a soaring eagle whose circling this day never brought him quite over the lake...though I waited. Also in celebratory mood were a few straggler dragonflies whose appearance surprised me this late in the year. And the forecast is for this happy weather to continue throughout the week.
Unfortunately, unlike the optimistic Mary Hopkin (remember her?), I know that these days will end soon enough.
Chaffinch set against a beach hedge backdrop. I thought the dead leaves on the beach hedge would produce a nice Bokeh that would compliment the Chaffinches back and wing feather colours.
Thanks for viewing my photos and for any favourites and comments, it’s much appreciated 👍
The curves of the Yellowstone River around Calcite Springs at the base of Bumpus Butte along with the complimenting curls and curves of this ponderosa pine tree root along the cliff caught my eye.
Enjoy this last weekend of April!

I took this shot in my garden on February 24th I was not expecting to be using the camera at all that day . We had just had a third storm and it had been raining heavily for hours . After it finished I went down the garden to check for fence damage there was none but a lot of standing water. I was amazed when I got to the bottom of the garden to see the crocus I planted into a lawn were looking surprisingly really good . I went back and got the camera and Mary and we enjoyed this little miracle. We have a saying round here that may sound rude but its actually a compliment an these crocus are clearly “ tough little buggers “ They have survived the wettest February in England since records began

I used this piece of driftwood as my subject to compliment the moment the sun rose at Plum Island yesterday. An early morning wake up but it was worth it.
Usually I would go out into areas with low light pollution to find and catch the Northern Lights. On this occasion however I just had to step outside our cabin and the artificial light very much complimented the northern lights during blue hour (at least I think so!).

I wouldn't compliment myself for what I've become
Tell her I owe it to her
Tell her I owe it to her
I wouldn't praise myself for every good thing I've done
Tell her I owe it to her
Tell her I owe it to her
Tell her I owe it to every heartbeat
Tell her I owe it to every exhale
Tell her I owe it to, owe it to her
Hands upon my chest
Oh, won't you breathe life into these dead lungs I keep under my coat oh oh oh
And keep life warm against the cold night as our bodies grow old oh oh oh
I don’t want to give up and I know when to breathe
Believe me, I owe it to her
Tell her I owe it to her
Tell her I owe it to every heartbeat
Tell her I owe it to every inhale
Tell her I owe it to, owe it to her
Hands upon my chest
Oh, won't…

Self seeded Nigella growing in my front garden. This area was a scrubby patch of grass full of Dandelions when I first moved here, but I decided to dig it all over and make it into a garden area.
It looks amazing in the early spring with hundreds of Daffodils, then Tulips, Acers, Witch Hazel, Alium, self seeded Phacelia, to name a few.
A couple of years ago I sowed some Nigella seeds and this is the result. Beautiful baby blues, and this will be complimented with Sea Holly soon.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

someone, a friend, wrote this to me not a distant moment ago. and this one's for him. to be honest, this compliment has affected me quite profoundly. what do you say to someone who says that about your work? surely he could not mean no one could be a better photographer. but i am most grateful that i can at least say there is someone who finds something special in my images - moments, i call them.
if magnificence means trying to see the extraordinary in the simplest of things
if it means trying to touch the magic that is always there
if it means trying to listen to what the moment is saying to you at time of capture
if it means trying to taste the real essence of what's before you
then i am guilty and we might as well all be guilty
because when all is said and done we all are magnificent
each in our own unique way

P.S. - regarding the "title", know that i totally understand what my friend meant by this. and i actually consider it one of the best (if not the best) compliments i have ever received.

March 2023 was a particularly rainy and cloudy month, being the wettest March for over 40 years. I was fortunate to find a day linesiding on the Boulby branch in North Yorkshire with decent weather.
[Best viewed enlarged. A closer crop on the golfers approaching the green would have been a better shot, but I couldn't leave out those spectacular mountains in the background.]
Lost Farm is the younger sister to The Dunes. Its name comes from the fact that the original owner of this former farmland, decided to turn it into two world class golf courses. What was marginal quality farmland, was perfect for challenging links golf.
Here is a description from the Barnbougle website:
"With the reputation of Barnbougle Dunes continuing to augment, the idea of a second course at Barnbougle was conceived. In December 2010, Lost Farm, the 20 hole sister to The Dunes, opened for play.
Designed and constructed by Coore & Crenshaw on the steeper and more dramatic sand dunes across the river from The Dunes, Lost Farm was developed with similar design principles – that the best links courses compliment the natural topography of the land.
Lost Farm has quickly captured the attention of international golfers of all abilities. Within weeks of opening, Lost Farm was rated the No.2 public course in Australia by Golf Australia Magazine, and within 8 months it entered the World Top 100 List (by U.S. Golf Magazine) at No.82. Lost Farm now ranks No.23 in the World (U.S. Golf Digest).
Despite the close proximity of the courses, they are remarkably different. The topography of the land on which the Dunes lies rolls in and out of the sand dunes along the coast, whilst the sand dunes on which Lost Farm lies are steeper and more dramatic. The Lost Farm plays along the coast and inland and also features 20 holes – 13a, which was built as a substitute hole but was too good to leave out of the route, and 18a – a very short par 3 leading golfers to the bar and clubhouse."
