O município apresenta um grande complexo lagunar que contempla as lagoas de Maricá, Barra de Maricá, do Padre, Guaripina e Jaconé, além dos canais de Ponta Negra e de Itaipuaçu que ligam as lagoas ao mar. Também é conhecida por suas praias oceânicas, dentre as quais destacam-se as de Jaconé, Ponta Negra, Barra de Maricá, do Francês e Itaipuaçu. A topografia peculiar cria um ambiente propício à prática de esportes como voo livre, trekking e mountain bike, entre outros. A Serra da Tiririca, entre Maricá e Niterói, é um parque estadual com um valioso trecho de mata atlântica. A Área de Proteção Ambiental Estadual de Maricá é uma área tipicamente de restinga, localizada na costa do município. É formada pela antiga fazenda São Bento da Lagoa, a Ponta do Fundão e a Ilha Cardosa. Abriga a Comunidade Pesqueira tradicional de Zacarias, presente na área desde o século XVIII, sítios arqueológicos e o complexo ecossistema de restinga. Este último é formado, entre outros componentes, por tabuleiros costeiros, um duplo cordão arenoso coberto por dunas, brejos, vegetações e fauna de restinga. A sua construção promoveu a constituição do sistema lagunar Maricá-Guarapina pelo fechamento da antiga enseada6 . Possui, ainda, uma grande área urbana de ocupação rarefeita e formada por dezenas de bairros e condomínios. A maior parte dos domicílios é de uso permanente, sobretudo no Centro da cidade e nas localidades mais antigas. Nas áreas do litoral e nas margens das lagoas, as residências são majoritariamente utilizadas para o turismo do tipo veraneio. O município de Maricá também é conhecido por suas propriedades rurais – chácaras e grandes fazendas –, muitas delas ricas em conteúdo histórico. O trem também já passou pela cidade – ainda hoje se encontram resquícios daquela época, como estações, trilhos, um túnel e uma ponte no bairro de Inoã, com a inscrição da Estrada de Ferro Maricá. Informações: Maricá é um município brasileiro, situado no litoral do estado do Rio de Janeiro. Localiza-se a 22º55'10" de latitude sul, 42º49'07" de longitude oeste, a 5metros de altitude. O território municipal estende-se por 362,480 km² e é dividido em quatro distritos: Maricá (sede), Ponta Negra, Inoã e Itaipuaçu. O acesso ao município pode ser feito tanto pela RJ-106 (Rodovia Amaral Peixoto), que liga o município às cidades de Niterói, São Gonçalo e Saquarema, quanto pela RJ-114, que faz a conexão com o município de Itaboraí e as rodovias RJ-104 e BR-101.

Destination Jakarta today, Non-stop Amsterdam-Jakarta.
We arrived in Jakarta in the late morning and headed straight away for the old Harbor and Dutch Cityhall.
That was enough for the day and our 14 hour flight.
Leaving Jakarta already next morning, after a quick stop at the Monas, for Bogor and the Puncak pass, but the pass was deleted from the tour as the roads were blocked during this eastern holiday weekend.
Visited only Bogor Botanic gardens and headed to Bandung via Jakarta.
Bandung is famous for its Art Deco city center.
We boarded the train for a 5 hour scenic drive to Kroya .
Night-stop at Wonosobo with the Dieng Vulcanic area and Java's oldest Hindi temples are nearby.
Fortunatly it didn't rain during our visit to the famous Borobudur temple complex .
We arrived in Yogjakarta for a full package - 2 day visit.
A becak tour in the early moring to the the Sultans Kraton Palace, Shopping, Batik, silver and dinner show to name a few.
On the second day a bicycle tour near Prambanan and more World Heritage at the Impressive Prambanan temple complex
Our second scenic trainride ends in Batu.
Time to relax here and prepare for our ultimate sunrise experience at the Bromo vulcano.
One more stopover in Kalibaru with a nice Botanic Garden before we took the ferry to Bali.
A few days at Bali Sanur Beach, relax and enjoying the sun.
Despite a few activities : Mountainbike at Bali's famous Ricefields, snorkling and visiting art village Ubud as we headed for our last
visit at the Tanah Lot temple for sunset.

Total complex Old University with Jesuit Church

Cadastral Community: Inner City. The building complex of the Old University was created from 1624 in the 17th and 18th century and was home to the University of Vienna until the relocation to the new university building at the Ring Road in 1884. The new auditorium is since 1857 the seat of the Academy of Sciences.
The Jesuit Church was built between 1623-1631 by an unknown architect. From 1703 Andrea Pozzo re-designed the hitherto simple construction by renewing the façade, adding the towers and also rebuilding the interior opulently.

Katastralgemeinde: Innere Stadt. Der Gebäudekomplex der Alten Universität entstand ab 1624 im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert und beherbergte die Universität Wien bis zur Übersiedlung in das neue Universitätsgebäude an der Ringstraße im Jahre 1884. Die Neue Aula ist seit 1857 Sitz der Akademie der Wissenschaften.
Die Jesuitenkirche wurde zwischen 1623–1631 von einem unbekannten Architekten erbaut. Ab 1703 gestaltete Andrea Pozzo den bis dahin schlichten Bau um, indem er die Fassade erneuerte, die Türme hinzufügte und auch das Innere opulent umbaute.
