The beggars have come mostly from Romania and Bulgaria a few years ago. They can't work so they beg, or collect bottles, and in summertime they sell wild flowers. Their government needs to be seriously involved and help them, but politics aside and reality is ongoing poverty. Some say the beggars are slaves and brought here by the beggar mafia and are forced to beg. There has been lots of discussions about the issue, however, no solutions yet.
The statue has moved from the second to the ground floor of the Tibet House. The statue is a 2.20 metre tall Chenresig statue on loan. Chenrezig (Tibetan སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས, Wylie spyan ras gzigs) or in Sanskrit Avalokiteshvara (avalokiteśvara) is the bodhisattva of great compassion (mahākaruṇa) in Mahayana Buddhism. Chenrezig has one thousand arms, of which 992 are in the gesture of supreme giving. The one thousand arms represent among others Chenrezig’s wish to protect all beings in a thousand different ways. He is considered the patron saint of Tibet, a country occupied and colonised by China. The female form in China is Guanyin, in Japan Kannon and in Vietnam Quan Âm. The Chenresig statue is on loan from Manoj Rauniar from Hamburg.

Subject: Paint With Light
--------------------------------------------------
This is one of my favorite statues of Quan Yin. In the Mahayana Buddhists tradition, she is a bodhisattva associated with compassion.
I had fun setting up and shooting this photo assignment. I had forgotten how beautiful this type of light painting can be creating such dramatic effects and photos.
Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.

Tibetan prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion and wisdom. It is believed the energy of the prayers and sacred mantras on the flags are blown in the wind and will bring Joy, Happiness and Good health to all who see them as well as their families, loved ones, neighbors, and all people throughout the world.
Sometimes when photographing wildlife you do a lot of waiting around and people will say how amazing our patience is, but while waiting for something gives me the opportunity to study behavior in nature and sometimes these observations move me to tears...this was one such case. These two Least Sandpipers landed near me in the mudflat and it soon became clear that one was not well and in some sort of distress. The healthy one stayed by it's friend's side for a very long time keeping it company until it passed away. Such an act of compassion and loyalty was certainly an eye opener and was very poignant. I do not know what the relationship was between them whether friend, parent, progeny...it was certainly clear that there was great empathy displayed by a tiny Sandpiper....
My heartfelt compassion for all the victims, dead and living, following the mass murder of 49 innocent people by a deranged gunman in Orlando, USA who apparently claimed allegiance to Islam and Islamic State (IS). And compassion for the people of the USA who seem to have to live under gun laws that allow such people to easily obtain and use weapons of mass murder.
The definition of compassion is the ability to understand the emotional state of another person or oneself. Often confused with empathy, compassion has the added element of having a desire to alleviate or reduce the suffering of another.
I have met many compassionate people in my lifetime. They are humble and good and follow their heart because they believe they CAN make a difference in the lives of others... be it people or animals.
One such person is my kindred spirit ANN (Annmaxine). Ann and some of her friends will be traveling from their homes in Australia to help orphaned children in Africa next month. They will be gone from their families for a month. Through love and faith and effort, they will try to make a difference. I know they will succeed!
So many of us have empathy for those less fortunate.... but few of us actually DO something about it. Ann and her friends do not do this to bring attention to themselves, but because it's the right thing to do. They are pure of heart. I really admire those that sacrifice their time to make this world a bit better... even if it's one person at a time. People like Ann and her friends give HOPE to humanity and I want to thank them for this.

I have been waiting to work on this , have done a couple of the ones taken on this shoot , one being , "IN THE SHADOW OF HER MAN " which was much more moody , so I found this one and made it softer and gentle , the colour has created the mood I wanted , so am quite happy......for now.

Since several seasons I take most of the pictures of our collections on the upper terrace which is on the top of our office in Varanasi (Benaras) in front of this amazing wall which keeps traces of each monsoon and which is magnified by a natural light.
Those fashion photographies are not as simple as they pretend to be, each is dwelling with a real social work.Among the many people involved there, Anand who is modeling for our catalogue since the begining of the company is escaping for a while his tough condition of boatman on the Ganges and, using his dark colour skin complexion breaks a social taboo in India.
The fabric of this bed cover involves handloom weavers of Varanasi struggling with their workshops and the quilting (boutis) is supplying shelter and independance to a few ladies manufacturing them.
The hand embroidery is done by men following a traditional technic since the Mughal empire.
RED HALO is a collection of household linen based in Benaras (Varanasi - India) providing work to people who were living with difficulties and education to children.
(Copying those products is against this social work)

This beautiful painting of St. Francis Of Assisi hangs in the hallway outside the chapel in St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida.....I have always loved this painting!
St. Francis holds a special place in my heart!
Stories abound of how St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226) could communicate with animals and felt at one with all creation.
Every year on the Sunday nearest his October 4 feast day, Catholic and other Christian churches around the world host services where animals are blessed. These services are a powerful way to celebrate both Francis's and God's compassionate concern for all creatures.
"If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who deal likewise with their fellow men."
~ St. Francis of Assisi ~

Menhaden (also called Pogie or Bunker) were in large tight bait-balls off the Nauset Beach shore this past Sunday. As the tide went out, the Striped Bass ambushed the fish along the sandbars, forcing many of them to choose death by stranding or death by being eaten!
People on the beach rushed to throw them back into the sea as they leaped out of the waves by the hundreds. (Most didn't even realize they were throwing the fish back into the mouths of waiting hungry stripers!)

"Oh, people downcast in despair
See the disillusion everywhere
Hoping that their luck will change
It's a little harder every day
People struggle, people fight
For the simple pleasures in their lives"
Old San Juan Alcoholic and homeless that people put gifts near him on Holy Week. I do not know if they do all year long. Next morning he had some more food at his feet, and he does not see who puts it there.
