This flat in an Edwardian Mansion block had been badly converted and needed respectful modernisation. Original sash windows, plaster cornices and deep skirtings were refurbished and classical room proportions restored. In a small flat where every inch of space needed to work hard, ‘fat’ walls were built to accommodate services and storage. A wet room was installed to provide a spacious shower experience and full height library shelving was fitted in spare pockets in the hallway. The bedroom was opened up entirely on one side to share space with the hallway and a wall sized walnut sliding door installed to close the room when visitors were present. The result is an elegant and efficient flat.
