On top of Cowels Mountain this late afternoon.

Some believe that God is absent but can be present only by seeing the world through that which lives. I wonder if God can view the world also through that which does not live?

COMMUNICATION

Talking to others far away, has changed a lot over the years.

St. Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians, was an early Christian martyr. According to legend, she could play any musical instrument and was so exalted she could hear the singing of angels. Following the discovery of her remains in 1599, Cardinal Emilio Sfondrato, who was deeply involved in the archaeological investigations then being carried out in Rome, built a church in her honor in Trastevere. He commissioned Guido Reni to portray the saint as though communicating, by means of music, with the heavens above. The great Bolognese artist’s gift for depicting outward beauty and pious sentiment combine movingly in this fictive portrait of Cecilia.

In 1608 the painting sold to Cardinal Scipione Caffarelli-Borghese who was, at that time, a patron of Reni. It remained in his private collection until the beginning of the nineteenth century when it passed to Lucien Bonaparte, the brother of Napoleon.

Trumpeter Swans are the largest flight bird in North America. They weight 25-30 pounds, with a wing span of about 7ft. Because Trumpeter swans are so large, they need about a football field length for take-off.

Certain phrases seems to get repeated whenever I work events. Someone calling our "hey cameraman" is one of them as people try to get my attention. I imagined this thing had called out to me as I passed by. I kept moving, but stopped a few yards away. I was talking to someone but my eye kept returning to this clown head. It was intended to bring a smile, all brightly painted and whimsical. But it did not make me smile. In fact it disturbed me, both in appearance and in the sense that it seemed to communicate with me. Ultimately I ventured near, knowing that I would take this photo. Up close it seemed even more menacing. Something about the eyes. The setting was perfect, on the edge of the festival, the boundary between gaiety and everyday life. The clown was like a sentry, standing guard over the border. I waited until the background was devoid of people. It was just so much better that way.

Writing or texting is a way of communicating. Exchange of text messages or pictures on social media is very effective and time efficient.

But we know when you write I am happy. You may not mean exactly you are happy.

On the other hand, speaking has the advantage over writing because you will learn about the voice and tone of the person.

Facetime or Skype allows you to see the person's expression and listen to the voice/tone of the person. But again when you speak to a person in real presence, you are able to exchange gesture, give him a hug, touch the hand, learn more on his small body language.

So what is the best way of communication?

Happy Sunday!

(continued) The gentleman settled on a spot about 25 yards away and sat down in the weeds, presumably thinking he was out of my way, setting up a second shot of the same scene in less than 30 seconds. In failing to communicate, and me trying not to engineer the scene, the fisherman ended up making giving me more that I had hoped for. We exchanged waves as I yelled thank you up to him and we parted ways.

I have photographed this couple for years and this is the first time I have been able to capture their chirping back and forth. Normally they go into an area that is out of view. I wish I knew what they are saying!

... Or perhaps my subconscious. Depends on your point of view.

Five of us gather on the shore of the Grand River at Breslau for a once in a lifetime event. CN X56831-24 running from Guelph to London to move equipment for the Ontario Southland Railway. After the last run on August 28, OSR equipment was left in Guelph for CN to ship to St. Thomas where, on home rails, it would return to the shop at Salford. After almost a month the paperwork was cleared and the movement was begun. The trip would end at Kitchener though after numerous delays; missing paperwork, multiple foremen working on the line, and the EOT not communicating with the IDU resulting in a 15mph speed restriction for the whole trip. It was impressive these locomotives were under their own power on the mainline, all having 60-63 years of service behind them, and the MLW RS18u leader only made it better. Consist included 8 locomotives; OSR 182, 1620, 1591, 181, 505, 506, 504, 1 boxcar, 2 ballast hoppers, and caboose 434462.

Mystic Reflections on Destiny - The Principle of Communicating Paths

We often ask ourselves why do we choose a given path and not another? Or why are we often impelled to enter a path that we are not even aware of or that even seems more dangerous to us?

The paths we take are usually the ones we know or want to explore, but also often because we have no other choice, some will say.

The truth is that the vast majority of us always have the initial freedom to choose the path we want to follow, even if that choice is sometimes debatable to others or even to ourselves.

The entire human spirit is endowed with the quality of free will and this is one of the qualities that differentiate us from each other through the different choices we make throughout our lives.

But what if for whatever reason despite choosing the path that seems right to us, we end up making a bad choice in the end?

This can be due to an illusion or a mistake on the one hand, but it can also be the result of a change in our goals, as the time factor also plays a very important role in our choices.

Thus, it is not only free will and space (geographic) that influence our choices, but also the factor of Time.

As strange as it may seem to us, our destiny results from the multiple choices we make but also from the interactions we have with others throughout our lives when we cross paths with others and therefore in the space/time of others.

In most cases, there are communicating spaces or communicating paths where we coexist at a given moment with others, so the more we interact, the more there is the possibility of taking different paths from those we initially traced for ourselves.

Therefore, our destiny is somehow linked to the destiny of others with whom we interact. We are therefore not alone!!

The same can be inferred for our states of soul, in the spiritual evolution over time as a result of the various incarnations, we find certain paths more familiar than others.

Although we have no memory of past lives, there are certain spatio-temporal elements that seem familiar to us and to which we are drawn even if we have never had the experience of knowing them in our current life.

These are also "Communicating Paths", as they make the connection between a sublimated spiritual past and our present.

However, these are also the ones that can make us repeat the same mistakes of a past to which we are "spiritually attached" so in any case we must always be careful with our choices, so we don't get stuck in a fate that we didn't want after all!

… one month yes, and one no, my Provincial Health Authority of Messina sends me on a three-day mission (from Taormina) to the Civil Hospital of Lipari, located in via Sant'Anna…In my spare time, free from work commitments, I dedicate myself to my photographic passion; the photographs that I present here were all taken in the months of this year 2023; I made various photos according to the dictates of street photography (or street photography), I made some portraits, having always met people in the hand, very willing to let themselves be photographed (perhaps it will be ... that the people of the island are open-minded, eager and used to to communicate with strangers..?!), some portraits were made of people intent on their work; all the photos were taken in the city of Lipari, except for two taken in the port of Milazzo, the departure and arrival point of the hydrofoils (but there is also the ship) for the Aeolian Islands. I met (and photographed) the sweet lady, very good and appreciated American artist, Mrs Janette Little (photographed together with her affable and very nice husband, of Aeolian origins); of the talented artist mrs Janette in addition to her portrait I propose two of her works, I had noticed them some time ago, I had wanted to bring some photos of these works with me, now I propose them in black and white because this is a monochrome series, I note however that the originals are in color, for those wishing to see his works, I add the link to his web site below.
