We were at the roof of our launch, enjoying the surroundings during the trip from Voirab to Baniachong at dawn. Suddenly we saw this Buffalo group possibly returning home after whole day of exploration. This photograph might not be good in quality (due to bad lighting, long distance and our movement ) but we were really thrilled and inspired after seeing their journey alone in the flooded land.

Over the past decade Keesmaat has worked in municipalities across Canada – including Moncton, Halifax, Mississauga, Peterborough, London, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver – on the development of site plans, urban design guidelines, official plan reviews, corridor studies, culture plans, secondary plans and university campus master plans. The University of Texas at Austin and the Embassy of France have committed to an agreement to establish an endowment to support research collaborations and strengthen academic cooperation between UT Austin and France.
“Global engagement is an essential component of The University of Texas at Austin’s educational and research missions,” said UT Austin President Gregory L. Fenves. “This partnership will strengthen the important relationship between Texas and France and benefit citizens in both nations.”
The Dr. Cécile Dewitt-Morette France-UT Endowed Excellence Fund will solidify the commitment between France and UT Austin to support scholarship that will lead to generations of joint discoveries and deepen the historical ties between the people of France and Texas.
“The Embassy of France is committed to encouraging sustainable cooperation between French and American universities to foster new discoveries as well as students’ and researchers’ mobility,” said Gérard Araud, ambassador of France to the United States. “This new France-University of Texas at Austin program, named for the famous physicist Cécile DeWitt-Morette, will open new perspectives of cooperation in all fields of science and humanities.”
The endowment will honor the life and work of the late mathematician, physicist and UT Austin professor Cécile DeWitt-Morette, who was born and educated in France. A recipient of the French Legion of Honor, DeWitt-Morette leaves a trans-Atlantic legacy as a researcher, educator and champion for improving global science relations. During her storied career, she held the Jane and Roland Blumberg Centennial Professor Emerita in Physics at UT Austin and founded L’École de Physique des Houches, a school that has produced more than 25 winners of the Nobel Prize and the Fields Medal.

Meanwhile, genetic database, sample database and germplasm resource database were established by using gene sequencing technology.
Sinogene biotechnology will sequence and analyze different kinds of horses, analyze the breeds and genetic diversity of horses, and classify and identify the horses by using the combination of gene chip detection technology and genetic breeding and the entire genome sequencing technology, RAD-seq technology or re sequencing and other related technologies. At the same time, the important candidate genes related to diseases and traits are selected. Based on these important candidate genes, the gene detection technology is established to detect the genetic diseases and traits of horses and it assists breeding. Understanding the genetic characteristics and screening can make breeding more directional and improve the efficiency of breeding optimization.
At the same time, as the most cutting-edge ultimate breeding technology, cloning biotechnology can realise the replication of high-quality individual horses and the rapid expansion of the number of excellent groups in batches, which is the cutting-edge technology of scientific breeding. Modern biotechnology can not only achieve the selection and clone, but also carry out breeding at the molecular level through gene editing technology.
In essence, there is no difference between traditional breeding and gene editing breeding. They are all changing at the level of genetic material DNA to cultivate new excellent breeds. However, editing breeding has shorter periodicity, less workload, and less dependence on resources. It can accurately predict the phenotype of offspring, with high selection efficiency and creativity. It can integrate the excellent quality among breeds.
It is known that horses are large animals and typical monogamous animals. Mares breed once a year. Horses can't breed until they are 4-5 years old, and the performance characteristics of horses can be judged stably only when they are about 8 years old. If traditional breeding methods are used, the randomness of character inheritance leads to the result that it takes more than one generation to cultivate a high-quality population and luck is also needed. These are images of the rally for the victims of Franco's dictatorship in Madrid in solidarity with Justice Baltasar Garzón and for the Historical Memory. Puerta del Sol, Saturday 24 April 2010, 8pm.
Garzon, who ordered the arrest of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet in 1998 under the principle of "universal jurisdiction" which held that grave crimes committed abroad can be tried in Spain, now faces two court cases himself.
Earlier this month he was indicted for exceeding his authority by opening an investigation in 2008 into crimes committed by General Francisco Franco's regime in Spain that were covered by an amnesty.
"Fascists get out of the courts," "Universal justice," and "More judges like Garzon," cried the thousands at the rally in Madrid which drew Spanish film director Pedro Almodovar as well as other artists and celebrities, marching out from Puerta de Alcalá to Puerta del Sol.

Over the past decade Keesmaat has worked in municipalities across Canada – including Moncton, Halifax, Mississauga, Peterborough, London, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver – on the development of site plans, urban design guidelines, official plan reviews, corridor studies, culture plans, secondary plans and university campus master plans. Her planning practice is characterized by an emphasis on collaborations across sectors, and broad engagement with municipal staff, councils, developers, business leaders, NGO’s and residents associations.
