Every year, DLA and MWR join forces to recognize its military and civilian workforce for their dedication and commitment to the overall Department of Defense (DoD) mission and to those who provide us with the freedoms that we enjoy every day! DLA and MWR hosted one of the most anticipated events of the year! The 2019 SummerFest and Organization Day took place on August 14, 2019 from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at the Installation Fest Area (Riverview Golf Course Practice Range). This year’s event featured a special live musical performance by local singer-songwriter, Garrett Shultz! This up-and-coming artist performed various popular country, rock, & pop hits of today! Also, there was a Car & Bike Show, free swimming at the pool, vendors selling tasty food and unique merchandise, various chances to win prizes and receive free goodies, informational booths, bounce houses, a caricaturist, a clown, a mechanical bull, bocce ball, baggo, and more! MWR offered a chance to win a 65” flat screen TV to patrons who participated in the Sponsor Scavenger Hunt. So many activities all crammed into one day!
Out of my commitment to shoot and post daily, and lack of time/inspiration we get a bout of oh so cliche bokeh! Not trying to make art, but perhaps I will by accident. Always my favorite way.
part of the sailor's creed.
there are three stone benches, each with one of these inspiring virtues carved into the front. i let alice pick which one to sit on, and she chose courage, which is sort of silly... considering just a few minutes after this she totally freaked out when she caught sight of the bronze statue of vice admiral james bond stockdale. granted, it was about 12 feet tall and quite looming, but still... courage? i'm not so sure. silly alice girl.

Wires. I tend to go for too long rather than too short. You can cut away excess more easily than you can add more. It just makes stuffing everything into the box just that much trickier.

These guys were awesome enough to let me photograph them working out for the photo theme 'Commitment' during the DC Shoot Off in Arlington, Va. We were assigned the theme, and then had 24 hours to shoot, edit and upload our images. I had a great time and learned a ton!

Fire Twirler - I'm sure these girls are committed to getting their fire twirling on point or else...
We took the kids tonight to see fire twirling and ice sculptures one town over. It was 24 degrees but I managed to get some shots in before we were all too frozen...lol. This girl caught me snapping a shot.

For the second year in a row the Global Project Logistics Network has shown its commitment to Breakbulk Asia. Breakbulk Asia is the largest and most important gathering in Asia for companies involved in the shipping of heavy-lift, project cargo and traditional breakbulk cargoes. It is where shippers have the opportunity to meet and develop relationships with the leading specialized carriers, forwarders, ports, terminals and packers who have the expertise and resources to handle oversized cargoes with unique handling requirements. Exhibitors include the world's major carriers, forwarders and ports that handle specialized heavy-lift, project and breakbulk cargoes. The Breakbulk Asia event is an outgrowth of the Breakbulk Conference and Exhibition held in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the southern part of the United States since 1989 and the Breakbulk Europe event held in Antwerp since 2006. In addition to a bustling exhibition floor, Breakbulk Asia featured a two-day conference with top speakers addressing the theme "Charting the Recovery". The in-depth program delved into today's most pressing breakbulk transportation issues: from cargo security to trade compliance and materials tracking initiatives. Speakers also discussed the hottest regions for breakbulk and project cargo, and review sectors such as oil and gas, and other power generation markets.
