Macro Mondays

- Hi everyone, currently I have little time and so I will restrict my commitment at Flickr, at least less uploads for some weeks. Thanks for your ongoing support and kind words. Hugs

It feels as odd to me to have a hair color other than brunette in SL as it would in real life. But I thought this blond updo had a retro vibe that went along with today's adventure, and it’s second life, so no scary bleach or color commitment, yay! As for the tequila, its safely packed in my luggage...which looks as if its about to topple off the top of this cute lil blue VW! I am dressed for a cocktail party, as per usual on these outings (you never know when you will get that last minute invite on the fly!) and I’m accessorized with a pup, also the norm. I am such a one trick pony! 🐶💐🐴🍹

So I set up the camera outside the stables, the parents are zooming in and out feeding the new fledglings (of which seem to be down to 4 now) it’s real hard, they are so quick, so out of about 500 phots,,,,, this one

I know that the night is not the same as the day: that all things are different, that the things of the night cannot be explained in the day, because they do not then exist, and the night can be a dreadful time for lonely people once their loneliness has started.

Dear all! I'm painfully behind right now due to other commitments. Hopefully I'll be catching up with you all very shortly 💕

This is again an attempt to photograph people and daily life in Paris in a way that keep the anonymity of the person. I will post soon some examples where people are recognizable. Here I was fascinated by the light on the chairs and his way of raking the leaves

There are only two options regarding commitment.

You're either in or out.

There's no such thing as a life in-between.

Grabbed my image early this morning before we headed out for the day. It is a very grainy image due to the high ISO and nothing spectacular in my mind. It's just the get the shot to keep up with my 365 commitment. My peony here has seen better days - sadly, they do not last too long.

I will thank you in advance for any comments or faves and hopefully will be able to catch up with your images in a day or two.

Sometimes I get lucky. This pair did not notice me standing with my tripod. They swam up close, completely undisturbed. Their gift presentation was also a gift to me; Clark's Grebes; Aechmophorus clarkii; Santa Margarita Lake; CA; USA

Another long break due to work commitments and the unpredictability of the British weather (its not every year that you have snow in April in the South of England after all...). Weather seemed very nice and the tides were ideal for Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset (www.visit-dorset.com/things-to-do/attractions/kimmeridge-...) so I decided to drive the 2+ hours it takes to get there. This is a very popular location and another 9 photographers were "competing" for the best rock to stand on. I have a thing for green stuff growing on rocks and the rock in the middle of the frame automatically attracted my eye. Beautiful golden light, nice blue water but not enough cloud for my liking. I was expecting a nicer sunset but had to compromise. After so many years with my D300s I am still getting used to D810 but I have to say I am very impressed with the sharpness of the images.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my image

Continuing with my Positive Flags of the Nations

project - For the Love of Our Planet

We have so many entrepreneurs and we desperately need people to discover something to replace plastic which is ruining our oceans, our lands, humanity, animal life, plant life, and climate. It is imperative that we are serious about this and find a solution immediately. Our children will suffer even more from our lack of caring, and if we don't do something soon it will be catastrophic!

The plastic pollution-free world is not a choice but a commitment to life - a commitment to the next generation.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

2024 was one of the hardest years of my life.

I learned so much about myself - strengths and weaknesses.

I broke myself repeatedly to form a more solid me.

I sacrificed true love on an altar of commitment.

I watched generations wither and stepped into the gap.

I gained beautiful flowers in my garden of friends.

I froze in the face of trial and closed within myself.

I created from the depths of my agony.

I screamed in silence for dreams unfulfilled.

I stepped up and made the choice - God over everything else.

I struggled out of the pit of surviving.

I don't know what 2025 holds.

But I know there will be continued pain... continued longing...continued moments of falling and picking myself back up. Moments of showing up for myself in solitude. Moments of nostalgia... and memory... that crush the air from my very chest.

And likely...Grief.

But through it all...

I will continue to persevere as best I can.

I will continue to cry out to God in my confusion and gain clarity.

I will continue to soak up the sun and dance in the rain.

I will continue to find small joys in the birds song.

I will continue to breathe in and out.

I will continue to believe.

I will continue to live.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

A cruise aboard the Sam Patch departs from Schoen Place in the Port of Pittsford, NY, traveling west through the historic village of Pittsford, which retains much of its original charm and character thanks to a strong commitment to preservation.

It arrives at Lock 32 and passes through the 40 ton gates.

Because several family commitments and a lot of work these last few months I could not devote much time to get out and enjoy taking pictures.

This April I begin to share with you my new photographic objectives.

I hope you enjoy it.

... every two months, my Provincial Health Authority of Messina (Sicily) sends me on a mission for three days (from Taormina) to the Civil Hospital of Lipari, located in via Saint Anne ... In my spare time, free from commitments of work, I dedicate myself to my photographic passion; the photographs I present here were all taken in February of this year 2022; I took photos according to the dictates of street photography, I made some portraits, having always met people in the hand and very willing to let themselves be photographed (maybe ... that the islanders are open-minded, eager and used to communicate with strangers ..?!), some portraits were made of people intent on their work, some fishermen were intent on repairing their nets, a lady showed me one of her beautiful work, a blanket she made with knitting needles , hanging on her balcony (it reminded me of the shawls my grandmother made, also made with hand knitting needles); all the photos were taken in the city of Lipari, except three, taken in the dark in the port of Milazzo, the port of departure and arrival with hydrofoils (but there is also the ship) for the Aeolian Islands.

Sometimes negotiating commitments between Second Life and Real life can feel like walking a tightrope... canarybeck.com/2014/05/26/how-committed-are-you-in-second...

It's time for a break from birds! Yesterday I took a break from Flickr; this should be fun, not another chore. Between recent commitments and the need to get my garden planted asap due to our brief growing season, the past few weeks have been hectic.

But beyond that, I feel like I'm going a little stale as a photographer - so it's back to basics. And in my life, basic means black and white.

The prairie lends itself well to monochrome: such a simple, yet highly graphic landscape. To do it well, some deep looking is required. Essentially, I've had to get over the need to please people by photographing the prairie the way it's usually seen: hay bales against a sunset sky, for example. I've done that, but I know... well, I know it's been done. Done to death, perhaps. Flip through any calendar that has at least one prairie image and you'll find hay bales against a sunset sky, or if not that, maybe a combine in a wheat field. Nothing wrong with that. But the prairie offers a whole lot more. There must be different ways to see it!

Over the next few days I will offer some recent and some older black and white takes on the prairie, my prairie, starting with this view of some Trembling Aspens: a thick tangle of branches at the top, thread-thin trunks below, and in between, the seeping inky blackness of nightfall. There was barely enough light to focus. I resisted the temptation to process for detail - the camera's sensor captured a whole lot more than what's visible here - and instead tried to maintain the murky quality of the subject as I saw it in the gathering dark.

Today's walk took me through Willband Creek Park, a wildlife preserve made up of marshes, ponds and wetlands.

This nesting box is currently vacant, but like my commitment to a daily photo, it will be filled soon. :-)

Have a nice weekend!

Another of the few shots I stole at the studio, during the short visit I paid to Gigi this year. Due to various commitments that had been keeping my mind busy during my stay in Europe, not lastly also an elbow inflammation that was giving me problems in handling my cameras, I did not have plan to shot this time. However, resisting the call of the photographic wild for a concert and event photographer, which is used to exploit any situation, was impossible to ignore. Particularly with such a beautiful muse.

After a busy start to the year with work and other commitments, I hadn't yet managed to get this shot in the low winter light as I'd hoped, but a nice clear morning and the train running in the later path on a Saturday allowed me to finally do so!

The humanly side of photography contains at least three elements:

subjectivity

creativity

human initiative

If you going to purchase a camera and lenses you should try to be a photographer; however, for some (photographers?) laziness replaces human initiative.
