Thank you all for all your love and support, comments and awards, always appreciated and grateful. Much Love and Light to you all ♥♥♥

Work commitments have been such that I've not had the time to up load this from yesterday morning. Had dashed out the house, saw this turned on my heels got the camera, 4 quick shots jumped in the car off to work. Finally tonight catching my breath ...

Another hard year for farmers and my best wishes to them this Christmas.

Photo taken through the window of an Avanti West Coast train to Glasgow.

A hectic few days for us, as some family and friends can only do some or part days due to work commitments. I won't be back for more than a few minutes until after Christmas.

Finally, I'd like to wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Have fun!

I probably won't be around much in the coming days due to work commitments. Looking forward to catching up at the end of the week.

get your arms around me and we'll be going down, down, down...

If you see a married couple still in love through the

years, you may think how lucky they are.

But in marital relations, there is no such thing as

luck.

They made many compromises, they overlooked each others faults.

They forgave many mistakes, and endured many problems.

They spent years learning to understand one another.

Love has never been a matter of luck, its a mutual giving

compromise, shared dreams, care, respect, mercy and patience.

Autumn in the Jardin de Luxembourg

This is again an attempt to photograph people and daily life in Paris in a way that keep the anonymity of the person. I will post soon some examples where people are recognizable. Here I was fascinated by the light on the chairs and his way of raking the leaves

Fordyce & Princeton (ex-CRI&P) SW1500 1504 departs Fordyce, Arkansas with a short string of cars for the Georgia Pacific OSB plant just a few miles south. Although the crew is running out of time due to other commitments, they'll safely complete their trip down and back before sunset since it's not far.

This appears to be a once-a-week thing, and apparently only on Thursdays, which was the reason I started off my week-long expedition the previous Sunday by heading due west instead of south into Arkansas.

There are only two options regarding commitment.

You're either in or out.

There's no such thing as a life in-between.

... every two months, my Provincial Health Authority of Messina (Sicily) sends me on a mission for three days (from Taormina) to the Civil Hospital of Lipari, located in via Saint Anne ... In my spare time, free from commitments of work, I dedicate myself to my photographic passion; the photographs I present here were all taken in February of this year 2022; I took photos according to the dictates of street photography, I made some portraits, having always met people in the hand and very willing to let themselves be photographed (maybe ... that the islanders are open-minded, eager and used to communicate with strangers ..?!), some portraits were made of people intent on their work, some fishermen were intent on repairing their nets, a lady showed me one of her beautiful work, a blanket she made with knitting needles , hanging on her balcony (it reminded me of the shawls my grandmother made, also made with hand knitting needles); all the photos were taken in the city of Lipari, except three, taken in the dark in the port of Milazzo, the port of departure and arrival with hydrofoils (but there is also the ship) for the Aeolian Islands.

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of abandoned homes strewn throughout the countryside in Alberta. They did not fall out of the sky, but rather, were thoughtfully placed with the intentions of building a life within the four walls and a roof - a very long time ago.

When I come across these homesteads, I just have to stop. I don’t know why I am drawn to these old relics. Fossils of the past. It is as if can hear their heart beat in the solitude of the countryside.

Who lived here? What kind of life did they have? Did they conquer their hardships or challenges? It is without a doubt that the occupants encountered insurmountable struggles.

I try to imagine the essence of the house. Were there moments of joy and contentment despite the harshness and difficulties of the environment? I find it incredulous that it still stands even though it has been ravaged by time.

My imagination begins to percolate.

I want to hear the happy, contagious squeals of children giggling as they raced to the warmth of their beds at night; the sound of Mother humming as she lovingly brushed her daughter’s hair by the fire, or Father whistling with an air of fulfillment at a satisfying day of work that had been done and in anticipation of the hot meal waiting for him as he walked in, through the door. Goals, dreams and aspirations were quietly shared in the secrecy of night. Stolen kisses and affirmations of love and commitment were whispered as the children slept.

I wonder if this house had been enough for them? Why did they leave? What were their parting thoughts as they turned the key for that one last time? So many questions. No answers…

I snap a photo of the old gal.

I start driving down the lonely road but take one last look in my rearview mirror. I see a house surrounded by mass plantings of flowers, a thriving garden, chickens milling about and a clothesline that has a congregation of well worn clothes that are being gently seduced by an unusually warm summer breeze. The children are playing Kick-the-can out in the fields.

The joy of their laughter is a welcome sound to their Mother and Father who are sitting together on the porch sipping lemonade and enjoying a respite from the monotony of chores. No words pass between them. They bask in the silence of their mutual contentment.

I see a house that was once brimming with life and love. It stands proud and tenacious as a testament to those who happen to pass by on this lonely country road and those who have the ears to hear the echoes of laughter wafting in the wind, proclaiming that this house was more than four walls and a roof - it was a home…

Another long break due to work commitments and the unpredictability of the British weather (its not every year that you have snow in April in the South of England after all...). Weather seemed very nice and the tides were ideal for Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset (www.visit-dorset.com/things-to-do/attractions/kimmeridge-...) so I decided to drive the 2+ hours it takes to get there. This is a very popular location and another 9 photographers were "competing" for the best rock to stand on. I have a thing for green stuff growing on rocks and the rock in the middle of the frame automatically attracted my eye. Beautiful golden light, nice blue water but not enough cloud for my liking. I was expecting a nicer sunset but had to compromise. After so many years with my D300s I am still getting used to D810 but I have to say I am very impressed with the sharpness of the images.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my image

Continuing with my Positive Flags of the Nations

project - For the Love of Our Planet

We have so many entrepreneurs and we desperately need people to discover something to replace plastic which is ruining our oceans, our lands, humanity, animal life, plant life, and climate. It is imperative that we are serious about this and find a solution immediately. Our children will suffer even more from our lack of caring, and if we don't do something soon it will be catastrophic!

The plastic pollution-free world is not a choice but a commitment to life - a commitment to the next generation.

After finishing up with T4 at Milton and having dinner commitments We said goodbye to Dan and headed for FDL via Slinger and Highway 175. I was showing Stan the railroad we we came down Highway F at Byron to see the headlight of a Southbound in the trees climbing the hill. We quickly got in position and was able to get the last remaining light as by the time the rear end passed us the shadows had completely taken over.

In a dim Bagan temple, two monks share a profound connection as they light a solitary candle. The flickering flame becomes a metaphor for their interconnected spiritual paths, fostering a serene understanding that transcends the confines of the temple walls, echoing the timeless unity found in their shared commitment to a life of reverence and enlightenment.

The humanly side of photography contains at least three elements:

subjectivity

creativity

human initiative

If you going to purchase a camera and lenses you should try to be a photographer; however, for some (photographers?) laziness replaces human initiative.

Dedicated Laysan albatross mates alternate parental duties taking turns sitting on the nest and foraging for food. Tending the nest can mean a commitment of up to two weeks or more before swapping duties and heading out to sea to feed. This Laysan albatross (Phoebastria immutabilis) nest site was in the shade of a naio shrub on the sand dunes of Ka’ena Point.

Work commitments meant i missed the outbound legs of the three Mazey day specials that passed through Teignmouth today but i was determined to get some shots of the return trips.

A fog bank that descended along the coast of south devon did its best to scupper all my plans so i headed inland where the fog had not penetrated.

In 1977 almost two thirds of the Presbyterian Churches in Australia voted to join with Methodists and Congregationalists to form the new Uniting Church in Australia.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniting_Church_in_Australia

This rationalisation process was partly a result of commitment to ecumenism and liberal theology, but also had serious economic and practical reasons as well. It was considered that a pooling of resources would strengthen the church, especially in their social work.

Whilst their commitment to social issues continues, it also cannot be denied that this has had very little impact on slowing the decline in church numbers as a whole. Pockets of growth continue, but only in the conservative evangelical or charismatic wings of the church. This is simply a fact.

Those denominations that chose to remain Presbyterian have also generally maintained membership levels. It appears the problem liberal Christians have is convincing people that their values are any different from the secular values that abound in everyday society. In which case, why not go to the beach instead?

But I'm pleased to say that St Andrew's continues in Evandale, and this wonderful building is a monument to the dedication of the early Scottish settlers in the region.
