We haven't had much winter weather but this storm was a pretty good one. I love when it is warm during the day and then overnight all the moisture in the air re-frosts everything.
Still quite foggy out in the background there plus some depth using the 50mm lens. This reminded me a bit of a the Frosted Flakes cereal, so I named it as such.

The decoration is actually painted into canvas which was then attached to the beams, which are purely decorative.

A tug pushes a single, empty barge down the North Branch of the Chicago River toward Wolf Point, seen from the Kinzie Street Dave Mathews Memorial Bridge.
I've sometimes gotten into debates with people over my belief that the transbasin diversion that reverses the flow of the river into the Mississippi basin should be closed. Those with whom I disagree always talk about the economic impact, and all the commerce that would be lost were the river not available for barge transport. I could cite figures, of course, but for the moment I look to these pictures. I compare this busy day on the Chicago River with those photos a week or so ago of the barges locking through Markland Dam on the actually busy Ohio.
