The Downtown Webb City Historic District is an irregular shaped commercial area located in Webb City; Jasper County, Missouri and is locally significant under National Register Criterion A in the area of Commerce, and under National Register Criterion C in the area of Architecture. A survey of Webb City (1996) and a site and recommendations report (2009) identified the district as one of the most intact grouping of commercial buildings in the community. The district served as the primary commercial business district in the community from the mid-nineteenth century to the current date. The buildings retain most of their original design features, and comprise of a visually cohesive grouping of commercial buildings and one residential dwelling constructed from 1883 to 1965. The development ofthis district in the city represents a local commercial development trend, and depicts the vital interplay between the mining industry and commerce in Web City's development. The predominantly brick-clad, one- to threestory buildings tend to be two-part commercial block but design details and the few high-style buildings within the district were visibly influenced by the common styles of the mid-nineteenth to early-twentieth centuries. Stylistic influences within the Downtown Webb City Historic District include Italianate, Italianate Revival, Romanesque, Art Deco, Streamline Moderne and Queen Anne. In addition, buildings are notable for their cast iron storefront. The period of significance extends from 1883 through 1965, representing the period in which the district was developed.

Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce established the Generational Award in 2005 to recognize local businesses that have made a significant contribution to the growth and development of Hawaii’s business and community sectors over two or more generations of ownership. Congratulations to the Totoki Family, this year's Generational Award recipient.

Established on March 12, 1900 as the Honolulu Japanese Merchants Association, the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce is one of Honolulu’s major business organizations, representing a cross-section of the city’s businesses, industries and professions. As members of the Chamber, businesses and government professionals are given an opportunity to collectively seek solutions to Hawaii’s community and business problems which can best be solved by group action.

Lobster traps lined the wharf at Georgetown's small wharf.

The oceans are almost all fished out. Lobsters weren't as gourmet as they are now on PEI. Their shells were crushed and used as manure. Now, lobsters are second only to PEI's potatoes, which they claim are rich in protein, second only to eggs.

Federal Chamber of Business Economy, former Chamber of Commerce, Trade and Industry

Property ID: 50378 Stubenring (Ring Road) 8-10

Cadastral Community: Inner City. The former Chamber of Commerce was built 1905-1907 by Ludwig Baumann. It is part of the ensemble around the Georg-Coch square with late historicist and Secessionist forms. It is a freestanding building block with side projections. In high base storey there are basement windows with lead reliefs of Jakob Gruber and Emmerich Alexius Swoboda, the portal has coupled with pilasters Doric columns which end in a running across balcony cornice. The lion reliefs on the pillars stem from E. A. Swoboda and Carl Wollek, the triglyph frieze of Othmar Schimkowitz. At the projections there are Ionic giant half-columns which facing the ring side merge into caryatids (of Schimkowitz). From Schimkowitz stem also the attic sculptures (the prow of a ship with putti and allegorical figures of trade and industry). Also noteworthy is the staircase in Secessionist forms with three-armed staircase with wrought iron railings.

Objekt ID: 50378 Stubenring 8-10

Katastralgemeinde: Innere Stadt.
