During the 1950s the prolific producer and publishers of 'official' guides and handbooks, E. J. Burrow, worked with the UK's regional industrial development boards and seem to have produced a number of official handbooks for these organisations. This is for South West England and covers the local authorities of Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Devon, Cornwall and a portion of Monmouthshire.

The handbook gives a general introduction to the area, it's history, towns and cities along with tourist information; much of these counties were and still are important holiday destinations. However it also looks at a range of agricultural and industrial activities and, along with adverts, gives information as to many companies in the area.

They really need a more visible sign. Then again, I suppose the locals know where it is on old Route 66 in Commerce, Oklahoma.

5th India International Water Summit

16th December 2014, The Grand, New Delhi

Vision 2020 : Towards Sustainable Water Management.

India's supply of water is rapidly dwindling primarily due to mismanagement of water resources, although over-pumping and pollution are also significant contributors. Today, water resource management strategy is required to be integrated and innovative so that it is sustainable and efficient; this can be ensured through innovative tools of promotion, and incentives for the efficient water utilization, while simultaneously, dealing with inefficient water consumption through taxes, disincentives, and tariffs. A holistic management approach on how to use, from where to use, distribution network, collection network, its treatment and disposal has to be defined. The investments in urban water infrastructure need to be supported by governance, reforms in order to transform the urban sector and improve delivery of services and adequate improvement in provisions for maintenance of assets have to be made.
