While visiting the RSPB reserve at Pulborough Brooks, I spotted these Mining Bees nesting in the heathland sand. This industrious little bee had me transfixed as she busily tunnelled into the sand in a clockwork fashion. Emerging from the hole to scatter the spoils before reversing back in to mine some more in a comical, speeded up film manner. Hilarious!!

It's no wonder she looks so miserable.

More fun with cropping to spotlight the comical cormorants.

Atlantic Puffin. They may look comical on land, but in reality they are tough little creatures, spending the whole winter out at sea.

Looking back through my photos from my holiday in the cold south earlier this year, I think this is one of the best photos I took.

We'd spent hours and hours on one of my fav beaches and this was taken as I was leaving - I turned around and took a last couple of shots, catching these people and their 2 gorgeous dogs who had been collecting driftwood.

I thought I would end this year on the funny side of life, this fun shot was taken this morning on one of my sunrise walks! Louize and I wish you all a fabulous NEW YEAR!!

These comical birds always put on a show while waiting for their daily "feed" at The Entrance in NSW..... this one's all about the eyes...

Coming in for a landing. They can take on some comical poses as they dump speed for landing.

The first of the three bombs this new Trickster placed around the city was easily defused. The building was abandoned and the bomb was comically large with unnecessary wires cluttered all over its face. I was able to successfully trigger the bomb’s timer to stop. With that one done I begin my way to the Keystone City Police headquarters.

Since the Trickster was able to successfully hide the bomb inside the building, I can only assume he hid it in a room that no one really goes to. Luckily, I know exactly where that is as I work there. Inside the building there is an old office that used to belong to Commissioner Bellows. He stopped using it as he thought it would be better for him to be out in the main lobby alongside everyone else. No one has really touched the room since. So, with that in mind I quickly make my way into the building and find myself in the old office. The room is now filled with boxes and random clutter. Also inhabiting this room is another comically large bomb. I get the Trickster’s mantra, but things like these are a tad ridiculous even for him.

I identify the bomb and quickly rip open the face panel. There I find the trigger and quickly disable it. This seems almost too easy so right about now I’d probably be thinking that there’s something more. Then again this is the Trickster, and a new Trickster at that, so I’m sure this bomb threat is no more than that. I’ll probably not have to worry about anything else after I diffuse the third and final bomb. As I make my way out of the room I find myself stopped by a new face I’ve not seen here before.

“Flash? What are you doing here?” The man asks.

”I’m just diffusing a bomb, y’know an average Tuesday in the life of the Flash.” I respond jokingly. ”And you are?”

“August. August Heart. I’m a new detective here.” August outreaches his hand and I quickly take it and shake it firmly.

”I’m sorry I don’t have time to chat, August. I’ve kinda got somewhere to be. Make sure that bomb gets thrown in the trash for me, will you?” I say as I rush out of the building and make my way to the toy shop. That guy seems nice, I look forward to making a relationship with him during my normal day job.

Good Friday Morning Folks, and wishing everyone a very good weekend and a great day.

Something a little different for the next couple of days, spent a few hours with these very comical, joyous and beautiful little birds and had a great time. We do these guys once a year or so because they always make the visit very interesting and very enjoyable.

Thanks for stopping by, very much appreciated.

I love ducks and coots, but I hadn't managed to see a coot baby before, and I'd been reliably informed that they looked like aliens, or punks. I finally saw some earlier this year when I wasn't looking for them. Luckily I had my camera with me.

A duck munching away at some grass at the local lake while looking lie it is in deep thought as it stares into the distance.

Its kind of comical watching these Long Tail Ducks come in for a landing. Instead of sliding feet first as they hit the water, they just kind of belly flop and skid across the water for a few feet.

Comical mural on a garage in the Ostiense district of Rome, Italy.

Some sunshine at last bursting through on Skomer Island where these jewls of the Island without any doubt are the main stars. They are not only lovely, adorable, cute & comical but stunning to see & to spend time watching. They well deserve there time on land to reunite and raise one chick which both parents work very hard at.

Witnessed one poor Puffin having his fine catch of sand eels robbed from him from a rather nasty Blackback Gull, which proceeded to grab the Pufffin's leg tossed him up in the air so the poor Puffin dropped his catch. The out come was the Gull got a free meal......... Grrrrrrr.....Puffin was a little shaken but ok.

Such comical characters when lining up to get fed.

It's almost as if he's sayin' "what you lookin' at Willis?"

I caught this old fellow taking advantage of the sunlight and doing a spot of sunbathing leaving its foliage behind for a few hours :-)

An unmistakable bird with its black back and white underparts, and distinctive black head with large pale cheeks and a tall, flattened, brightly-coloured bill. Its comical appearance is heightened by its red and black eye-markings and bright orange legs. Used as a symbol for books and other items, this clown among seabirds is one of the world's favourite birds. With half of the UK population at only a few sites it is an Red List species.

What comical comment can you come up with?

Flamborough.

A comical little fellow in his glossy black dinner jacket and crisp white bib, the puffin is instantly recognisable from his brightly coloured parrot-like bill. Living for 25 years or more, the endearing little male returns to the same clifftop year after year to reunite with his mate. Puffin pairs will rear a single chick, a black fluffy “puffling”, taking it in turns to go out to fish beakfuls of sand eels. (The Wildlife Trusts).

My thanks to anyone who clicks or comments. It is much appreciated.

We (Nigel, Lisa, Martin, Philip, Janet, Ian and I) had a fantastic time on Skomer, with only one day of rain..... so much fun you guys!

These are the slightly comical feet at the base of the Luttrell memorial, which I photographed on my first visit to the church in May 2018. I was delighted to find the photo I took then was featured on Explore [https://www.flickr.com/photos/carolyn_gifford/42830176791/in/album-72157626449645214/] and immediately became far and away my most visited photo, with more than 13,000 views. So this is by way of a reprise, and I thought I might as well capture the pairs of feet separately. Given the great care and skill taken over the four effigies, and indeed the rest of the tomb, this view suggests some hasty last-minute adjustments as perhaps they realised that unless the figure at the back was raised, it would be hard to see from the front of the memorial. All the same, a lot of effort also went into creating all the frills on Margaret Luttrell’s petticoats.

Sparrows are often overlooked but they’re quite comical little fellows

Juvenile Green Woodpecker testing his wings, quite comical to watch his antics.

One goose bathing while the other flaps its wings presenting a comical moment as if one is ducking to get out of the way

Another street shot taken with my Sony RX100. I liked the pose of the moment with the serious intent of the stare and the body language of the aerobics trainer toward the little girl on her three-wheeled plastic scooter (which almost every little kid has in Beijing). The trainer appears to be saying: "Get right back in there, missy!". Meanwhile the little girl seems to be willfully and blissfully ignoring her command, as she makes a get-away on on her little pink scooter.

I liked the mix of colours, the triangle of composition with the headshot of the model in the background, as well as the accentuation of size difference between the girl and the trainer, as the trainer is closer up while the girl is further away in the scene. Some of the English in the ad is also a bit stilted and comical as well.

Although the image is cropped in pretty tightly, so as to cut out some distratcting background elements, the crop also seems to further enhance the sense of how tall the trainer is in contrast to the girl on the right.

The headhsot of the model in the middle appears in a multiple exposure image just a few images farther down in my photostream (taken with my Nikon D500).

Post work was done mainly in Capture One, along with some HDR effects in Photomatix. A few refinements in tone, colouring and contrast were made in PS and I corrected for a tiny bit of barrel distortion from the lens in Lr. I also cleaned up some noise from the HDR processing in Photomatix and later in Topaz Denoise. The HDR rendering in Photomatix added some nice highlights to the gym outfit and brought out some of the muscle tone in the trainer.

American Coot chicks are one of the most comical looking chicks around.

Naples : wow what a city.......dirty, scruffy, edgy, diverse, busy, vibrant, chaotic, lawless and comical mixed with grand architecture and raw humanity......

With it's reputation I did wonder if I was wise to have my lovely Leica hanging around my neck as I walked the back-streets of the city but what the heck, it's only a camera and we weren't mugged, accosted, robbed or knifed...in fact, we found everyone we met to be friendly and helpful......

A fabulous city....I will be back!

Sitting on one of his favourite perches in the Willow tree overlooking the fish pond and doing a lot of comical looking head bobbing as he tried to see what was going on in the hide. Superb looking bird.

Another situation where I wished I'd had my 500mm and a converter on the camera, as it was a wee bit too distant for the zoom lens. That said, although he spent 3-4 minutes in the tree before diving for a fish on this occasion, you never knew how long he would sit there; it could have been seconds only and if he had dived, you had no chance of catching the dive. So, it was a matter of compromising, as you also did not know how many dives you'd get. In the event we had only one completed in good light, so I'm happy enough!

Thanks for the faves and comments. Appreciated

Have a great day everyone!

Sandhill cranes' landing style is comical. Once they've zeroed in on their desired area they arch their wings to start their descent. Then they hang their feet down like this and begin an erratic final approach swing to the sides and at angles that make them look a bit more like a controlled crash. It makes me smile every time.

Eurasian Coot have such fantastic feet! Such big feet for such a little bird. The look almost comical when they are wandering around out of water.

Watching these very young Tri-Colored Herons land was very comical. I was fortunate enough to have almost 100 in the area and most were very young and their landing skills were not that good.... Taken at Huntington Beach State Park, SC.

A group of friends joke about having a camera pointed in their direction. Most Filipinos tend to be very gracious when it comes to having their picture taken in public.

Wont be long before nesting time but oh are the chicks ugly but so comical.

This fledged Western Gull was being very persistent, but the parent was not giving in and ignored the cries for food. Eventually the adult tried to fly away, but the juvenile flew right after it. Pretty comical to watch.

Brent goose - Branta bernicla

I love the sound of Brent Geese, they always sound so comical. They arrive on our shores in October and leave in March.

Seen here in the salt marshes of the Solent, Hampshire.
