My wild river reflection…!!!

An impressionnist photo safari concentrated mainly on a daily basis (or almost) on my small piece of planet of 55 000 square feet…!!!

A Thoreau "waldennienne" approach…!!!

.....not only because of self-destruction,

it will also feel better for everyone

if we stop burning our planet all the time.

I think we covered the game with fire,

and many haven't even noticed.

Fire is a very powerful element, it can bring light

or the hell.

A used spark plug, from a set I recently replaced. It got me to thinking how many times it would have sparked while in the service of getting me from point A to point B and back for around 50,000 miles (nearly 80,500km), but that would be difficult to calculate; if I did, the figure would be astounding.

Sometimes I like color. Maybe it's the cool blues with the warm steam and clouds. In case you're wondering, this is a combine cycle combustion turbine natural gas power station. It provides base-load electric power to the 100,000 citizens of the city of Burbank and powers Hollywood. Anyhow, I captured this on my evening walking commute.

This weeks Macro Monday's theme is Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

As many of these conveyances are powered by internal combustion engines, I thought a Spark Plug would be appropriate.

Of course it would have to be sparking.

Best viewed large.

HMM.

P.S.

This is a real spark recorded in this 2.5 second exposure. The spark plug was connected to a neon sign transformer that produced a continuous spark that you see here.

Soldering, a very smoky process.

The smoke is slightly sweet-smelling but, like smoke from other sources, very noxious. Because of the danger, I use means of exhausting or blowing the smoke out of my way while soldering.

Light painting in Frew Park, one of Brisbane’s best locations for light painting, at a Centenary Photographic Community meet. With a tricky climb up to to the top of the tower (especially when carrying up a fragile and sharp light blade), I had to make an accurate guess on the required exposure. The exposure was remotely triggered from within the cage. Thankfully I only required two trips up and down before I was happy with the final result. Fire effect from a Denis Smith made Arclight - Fireblade connected via LPB Universal Connector to a Thorfire TK15S flashlight (on 50% output). f/10, ISO200, 20secs. Post processed from RAW exposure in Adobe Lightroom 6.

Combustion 2010 IMG_3585

These lead sheets weigh 0,82 KG. According to Einstein's formula (energy is equivalent to mass times the speed of light squared) this lump of lead which fits in the palm of my hand contains the energy released by combustion of approximately 2,15 billion liters of petrol. Inversely, the combustion of petrol uses up only a minuscule fraction of the energy total stored in it. Edited in Luminar.

I was trying to catch up with the Tri-colored Heron as it scurried out of the frame with its double catch when a school of menhaden literally photobombed the image in a spontaneous explosion triggered perhaps by a predator beneath the surface. When the baitfish are thick and nervous, almost anything, even me clapping my hands, can set them off. Armand Bayou at the end of the Bay Area Park boardwalk.
