My first visit here. What a fantastic place. I got a bit lost and ended up getting there a bit late. By this time there were banks of fog rolling across the landscape. I only had around 15 minutes of shooting time. So I had to come up with compositions quickly. But I don't really mind that. I usually work quite quickly and explore different compositions. I know it's a fantastic view from up here but only parts of it it were revealed to me through the breaks in the fog. This gave it an otherworldly feel.
Update on the feral hive that was removed from a large plastic barrel. This hive built up quickly after they were transferred. They swarmed about two months later. I did a quick inspection a week after the swarm and saw there was a new queen but no eggs. I wanted to take another look in to make sure she was mated and laying. I pulled one frame from the center of the brood chamber and saw capped brood and eggs, indicating there is a laying queen in the hive. The frame I pulled just happened to be the one I had previously tied the cut out comb into, notice the nails in the top bar. I took a photograph of this same frame when I was transferring it into the Langstroth hive, see photo below. Interesting to see how the bees anchored and tied the comb together and continue to use it for brood production.
Morri no brilho/glitter!

Eden's first comb-out is like a dream compared to Annabel's. Some small knots and tangles but nothing like the huge rats nest Annabel had. Lots of little bits of melted, old acrylic coming off. The odd thing is how skimpy her wispy bangs are. Three to four plugs at most.
At the Center of Marine Biotechnology in Baltimore, Valerie Huse studies halophiles, which are organisms that thrive in environments of extreme salinity. The higher the salt content in a medium, the more likely you are to find a halophile growing there.
She is shown here working inside a refrigerated incubator.

He was really amazing in his breeding plumage and ornated head gear. Managed to get a good portrait of him even when the back light was more brighter. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure this a species of a Comb Jelly Fish - Taken at the National Zoo - Invertebrate Exhibit - Washington, DC
Cheapy version of the butterfly comb that Rose wears in Titanic. It pretty much eats my head. One day I'll own the actual replica.... one day...
Hair is a loose rope braid put up into a bun and secured with spin pins. The comb is purely decorative. Sorry my hair looks dirty, it needs a wash and is lightly oiled with Argan oil.
as we went on holiday a couple of days after getting back from the Lakes in August, I had forgotten I hadn't posted photos. this is one of the few I got with a blue sky! it was a lovely walk above Windermere.
After a busy day it is time to relax. However, not before combing my hair. I like to have a neat hairdo at all times.
Combs were used for multiple purposes. This includes combs being used as status symbols, as decoration for the hair, and as tools.
