Comb Ridge is some 80 miles long just west of Bluff Utah. This is a unique area with many ancient ruins and rock art protected under the Bears Ears Wilderness act. I've climb to a top ridge somewhere south of the road you see. This area is a National Treasure and needs to be protected for our future generations to see and appreciate .... not developed for commercial gains.
40145 'East Lancashire Railway' passes Combs with a Birmingham International to Buxton railtour on the 15th September 2007.
Although the loco looks good in this livery, to stir my memory, a 40 would need to be in battered BR blue (or BR green with 40122 and 40106) as that is how I remember them. However, the noise this thing was making as it passed me at little more than walking pace on full power certainly did stir the memories, and nearly caused a wet patch if I'm honest!

Cockscomb flowers are also known as Wool Flowers or Brain Celosia, suggestive of a highly colored brain. The flowers belong to the amaranth family, Amaranthaceae. Cockscomb blooms with a compacted crested head 2-5 inches across, on leafy stems that are 12-28 inches long. The flower's name is suggestive of a rooster's comb. Another beautiful sighting in the water during our boat trip around Loch Dunvegan, Skye. There were quite a few of these stunning Beroe species (I think), comb jellyfish in the water, many bioluminescing a beautiful light show :)
Work in progress: preparing mohair locks for wigs.
1. Dividing mohair in locks & grading by length.
2. Combing underhair out.
3. Combed locks.

I prefer to buy raw hair & work on it by my own, because this way I completely control the process and the quality of ready locks.
I don't use wefts in wigs (sewing of 'roots' is too thick and coarse), I make them only for comfortable dyeing, and cut the locks off during wig making.
Venus' Comb (Scandix pecten-veneris ), a non-native plant in the Carrot or Parsley family (Apiaceae). Depicted here are the unusual-looking fruit of these widespread wildflowers, whence their common name is derived.

"Roof comb" is a term used in describing the architectural roof style of a certain kind of Maya pyramid; I see no reason it should be restricted to that genre. Maya "roof combs" (the name invented by latter-day Euro-Americans) tend to be narrow and tall, like Spanish mantilla combs. This roof decoration looks more like an small American pocket comb. (Does anyone still carry those?)

We enjoyed seeing the Comb-crested Jacana or Lotus birds walking on the Lotus leaves on the South Alligator River, Kakadu.
LEGO Vignette of hilarious scene from Space Balls. This was built for the ILUGNY New York Comic Con display 2011. We were asked to display there by LEGO and this scene was part of our Death Star trench run. We had small window cut outs and swapped out 6 scenes for 3-4 windows throughout the weekend. This was very well received and brought a smile or laugh to many faces.

This amazing jellyfish uses bio-luminescence. The cilia move in waves of changing color and the jellyfish look like alien spacecraft.
