Hubbard Glacier is a glacier located in eastern Alaska and part of Yukon, Canada, and named after Gardiner Hubbard.
Hubbard Glacier, Alaska, squeezes towards Gilbert Point on May 20, 2002. The glacier is close to sealing off Russell Fjord at top from Disenchantment Bay at bottom.
The longest source for Hubbard Glacier originates 122 kilometres (76 mi) from its snout and is located at about 61°00′N 140°09′W, approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) west of Mount Walsh with an elevation around 11,000 feet (3,400 m). A shorter tributary glacier begins at the easternmost summit on the Mount Logan ridge at about 18,300 feet (5,600 m) at about 60°35′0″N 140°22′40″W.
Before it reaches the sea, Hubbard is joined by the Valerie Glacier to the west, which, through forward surges of its own ice, has contributed to the advance of the ice flow that experts believe will eventually dam the Russell Fjord from Disenchantment Bay waters.
The Hubbard Glacier ice margin has continued to advance for about a century. In May 1986, the Hubbard Glacier surged forward, blocking the outlet of Russell Fjord and creating "Russell Lake". All that summer, the new lake filled with runoff; its water level rose 25 metres (82 ft), and the decrease in salinity threatened its sea life.[1]
Around midnight on October 8, the dam began to give way. In the next 24 hours, an estimated 5.3 cubic kilometres (1.3 cu mi) of water gushed through the gap, and the fjord was reconnected to the ocean at its previous level.[1] This was the second largest glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) in recorded history, and had the equivalent flow of about 35 Niagara Falls.
In spring 2002, the glacier again approached Bert Point. It pushed a terminal moraine ahead of its face and closed the opening again in July. On August 14, the terminal moraine was washed away after rains had raised the water level behind the dam it formed to 18 m (59 ft) above sea level.[2] The fjord could become dammed again, and perhaps permanently. If this happens, the fjord could overflow its southern banks and drain through the Situk River instead, threatening trout habitat and a local airport.
It takes about 400 years for ice to traverse the length of the glacier, meaning that the ice at the foot of the glacier is about 400 years old. The glacier routinely calves[3] off icebergs the size of a ten-story building. Where the glacier meets the bay, most of the ice is below the waterline, and newly calved icebergs can shoot up quite dramatically, so that ships must keep their distance from the edge of the glacier in Disenchantment Bay.

The Striker For Canon C100-C300-C500 is a step up from the Target Shooter. It is designed for lightweight, run’n’gun shooting stabilization. It is super light and easy to handle. The Striker rig features the Gorilla Baseplate which attaches to your camera using 3/8” 16 and ¼” 20 screws. It is compatible with the C300/100/500, Scarlet and Epic cameras. The Gorilla Baseplate also features a set of 15mm lightweight threaded holes in the front of the baseplate. This allows users to mount a follow focus, lens support or other accessories in front of the camera. The rod to lens height is not standard, so it is not compatible with a matte box unless you have a height adjustable matte box*.
The Gorilla Baseplate has a 15mm hole in the bottom which allows you to attach the main vertical rod for the Striker Rig. The rig can be freed from the Gorilla Baseplate by flipping the red lever. A tripod plate can be installed on the Gorilla Baseplate for quickly moving from handheld to tripod. The C300 Striker Rig includes the Zacuto Gunstock, just like the C300 Target Shooter and expands upon that by adding a Zgrip handgrip. The handgrip gives you an extra point of contact. Simply brace the Gunstock against your shoulder, hold one hand on the handle and the other on your lens and you are ready to shoot! This kit has minimal set up time and is very light and easy to use. This rig works best when using the eyepiece on the C300 camera.

Questa fontana posta proprio sotto al colle dell'Annunziata, sul tornante del viale della Rimembranza oggi non c'è più, è stata rimossa.
Fu per me meta ricorrente, per dissetarmi, quando marinavo la scuola nella tarda primavera e rimanere in classe non dava più valore aggiunto alle mie giornate d'adolescente. La scuola era già finita per me e già assaporavo la pigra estate che sarebbe arrivata da li a poco.
Una volta lì, proprio presso quella fontana, ho assistito ad una feroce scazzottata tra due giovani più grandi di me che se ne diedero di santa ragione. Dopo lo sfogo, entrambi sanguinanti, a lungo si lavarono le ferite con acqua fresca per alleviare il dolore del corpo e forse . . . dell'animo.

In the 1980’s, Reich received three appointments from President Ronald Reagan: As special Advisor to the Secretary of State from 1983 to 1986, he directed the Office of Public Diplomacy for Latin America and the Caribbean, which received the department’s Meritorious Honor Award. From 1981 to 1983, he was Assistant Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in charge of U.S. economic assistance to Latin America and the Caribbean. He was the Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs from 2001 to 2002. He then became President Bush’s Special Envoy for Western Hemisphere Initiatives, reporting to Dr. Condoleezza Rice in the National Security Council. He left government service in June 2004.

13-10-2009 - Le foto sono fortissime, sconsigliate a chi è debole.
Quali parole esistono per commentare, siamo ancora sconvolte perché noi avremmo voluto fare qualcosa per questa creatura innocente. Le parole non servono se non a farci sentire inermi davanti a queste realtà vissuta come un film horror.
Sono le diciassette e 23, ricevo la telefonata dalla polizia municipale di Olbia, nella strada verso le saline c’è un cane bisognoso di cure, l’utente che ha segnalato il caso ci accompagna. Arriviamo alla periferia di Olbia, in aperta campagna, località Monte Talbu.
Cerchiamo, del cane nessuna traccia.
Eppure era qui, continua a ripetere il nostro accompagnatore.
Guardo all’ orizzonte, vedo spuntare un uomo, in mano ha una roncola, tipo una falce lunga con il manico di ferro, mi avvicino, gli chiedo se ha visto un cane, quale cane, io non ho visto nessun cane, cosa ci fa con quell’arnese in mano gli chiedo?
Mi occorreva per mandare via i cinghiali, lei ha ammazzato il cane gli urlo con voce che si sta sempre di piu’ agitando, cosa dice mi risponde, io ai cani voglio bene.
Mette l’attrezzo in macchina mi prega di allontanarmi perché deve chiudere il cancello, lo imploro di farmi entrare per andare a vedere, mi rinvita ad andarmene, sempre con una pacatezza unica .
Intanto inizia a piovere e noi sotto la pioggia.
Lui con tutta calma se ne va.
Io scavalco la rete con il filo spinato, Barbara mi segue. Facciamo circa 300 metri quando intravedo tra le frasche il corpo di un cane.
Scuoto la testa, chiudo e riapro gli occhi piu’ volte, ma continuo a vederlo, ci avviciniamo, un urlo esce dalla gola: l’ha sgozzato, una pozza di sangue, e finito a colpi di roncola.
A questo punto ho un vuoto, forse voglio respingere le immagini, Barbara prende il cane e ritorniamo alla macchina. Ci prende la paura, la disperazione, quel corpino inerme e noi tutte macchiate di sangue, sangue ancora caldo di una creatura innocente.
Cio’ che proviamo………………, il nostro istinto è alimentato da azioni efferate che non riescono neppure piu’ ad essere filtrate dalla ragione.
La tentazione, allora è quella di voltare la testa dall’ altra parte per non vedere l’insopportabile sofferenza di tanta atrocità.
Il nostro accompagnatore ci lascia sole, tanto non c’è piu’ nulla da fare, la moglie ha paura, l’uomo sta scendendo.
Io e Barbara rimaniamo sole, in aperta campagna, sole, con l’uomo che ha ucciso il cane, ma noi ormai eravamo come in trance, non riuscivamo ad accettare tanta e gratuita crudeltà.
Mi avvicino, perché l’ ha fatto’ ? Perché continuo a ripetergli, mille perché ed uno sola risposta, il cane non era mio, me lo hanno dato perché era malato, non potevano piu’ tenerlo, c’erano dei bambini, io ci ho provato, volevo darle una possibilità ma non ci sono riuscito ed allora l’ho ucciso.
La paura diventa piu’ grande, io e Barbara ci guardiamo ma non riuscivamo a parlare se non con gli sguardi.
Chiamo la polizia, non puo’ venire, chiamo i vigili non possono venire subito, le grido che noi siamo sole, chiamo i carabinieri mentre l’uomo continua a ripeterci di non rovinarlo.
Arrivano due carabinieri che iniziano ad interrogarlo, chiedono di chiamare il proprietario del cane , arriva , scende dalla macchina e chiede cosa sia successo, il piccolo Angelo è a terra, per lui nemmeno uno sguardo, il cuore mi si stringe, io e Barbara siamo sconvolte.
E’ come vedere le sequenze di un bruttissimo ma veritiero film di una mente distorta, un pianeta alienato dove sono stati bruciati sentimenti.
Tutto questo mimetizzato da una frase che sembra normale, non lo volevano piu’, ormai ……… Pensate a quella creatura, sgozzata e finita a colpi, pensate ai suoi occhi sporchi di sangue. Sono le ventidue quando usciamo dalla caserma, io e Barbara MAI dimenticheremo tanta atrocità e tanta sofferenza. Ne abbiamo viste tante, ma una scena cosi’ non eravamo “pronte ad affrontarla.

Atendiendo una demanda de más de cuatro años los habitantes de El Rosario, en el municipio de El Marqués, la empresa Transporte Metropolitano de Querétaro (TMQro) y el Instituto Queretano del Transporte (IQT), acordaron la ampliación del servicio de la Ruta 122 con horarios definidos.
A partir de este lunes 30 de mayo la Ruta 122 tiene horarios de salida a las 6:30, 07:00 y 14:30 hrs. En tanto que las unidades darán el servicio de regreso a las 18:00, 20:30 y 21:30 hrs.
Además de ampliar el servicio, se atiende una demanda creciente de estudiantes y trabajadores de El Rosario ya que los recorridos de la Ruta 122 tanto de ida como de vuelta pasan por la zona industrial El Marqués y la Universidad Politécnica.
Durante mucho tiempo los habitantes de El Rosario vieron limitada su movilidad al contar con un servicio restringido de transporte suburbano, con está gestión impulsada por Transporte Metropolitano de Querétaro ante el IQT, se beneficia a cientos de familias de El Rosario que dejarán de pagar servicios de taxi de hasta 150 pesos para trasladarse a la Zona Metropolitana de Querétaro.
El representante de TMQro, Juan Barrios Pérez, explicó que el compromiso con los vecinos de El Rosario es evaluar en un mes los nuevos horarios y recorridos, y de ser necesario, modificarlos para hacer más eficiente el servicio con sus sugerencias.
Now. Let's discuss Halloween at PCC—so far as I can tell, this year being the first in the 20 Halloweens that have passed since I worked here for which PCC did not do anything official. No gathering, no costume contest, no traditional hot apple cider and popcorn. But I'm not complaining! Wait, am I complaining?
I'll tell you what I think is to blame. Not any individual, per se, but an unfortunate combination of protracted pandemic transitions and high staff turnover. I mean, the office has been officially "open" for people to come back from working from home since the end of June—and I have worked at the office every day since—but many people have found working from home realy works for them, plus even fewer people continued working at the office regularly after Delta Variant 2021 happened. But not me! I still don't want to have to break from working to clean up cat puke, thank you very much!
Anyway. All-staff meetings, ironically, were much more common in 2020, when 90% of office staff worked from home and we all patched in virtually on Zoom. This year, we've had a few in-person gatherings but even fewer virtual staff meetings, none of those including everyone, largely due to the patchwork of where people happen to be. Depending on the day of the week, there could be 30 or 40 of the roughly 120 office staff actually in the office, or as few as, say, five. Also: Halloween Day this year was on a Sunday, so the last workday prior to that was Friday, October 29. There must have been ten or fifteen people actually in the office that day.
There wasn't even any kind of announcement encouraging people to dress up in costumes—even though last year we actually had a high-participant, virtual costume contest! (Which I am still riding high on the victory of winning.) But you know what? I was like, fuck this! I am dressing up anyway! I still want a "Halloween 2021 at PCC" photo album! (There were a few charming little decorations set up, at least.) Even if I will be the only person at work in a costume! Which, as it happened . . . I was.
Not that my costume was all that impressive or anything. My goal, for many years now, is always "simple and clever." Well, one out of two is all right, I guess. Simple it is! Does anyone remember my Birth Week 2019, whose theme was boating and waterfronts, and a broker friend and her husband took me out on their boat? And she gifted me a captain's hat and a mug that read CAPTAIN AWESOME? Well, after a few weeks of coming up with no other ideas for this year, I figured, I might as well get at least one more use out of that hat. Steven happened to be one of the few other people at work that day, and when he saw me dressed like this he said I should have been "Captain Fantastic" (I guess he's a fan) but it's like . . . the mug says CAPTAIN AWESOME!
One last thing, which I only want to mention because I am an unrepentant narcissist. A friend on Twitter responded to my posting of this picture by mentioning how blue my eyes are in this shot, and I was like, I didn't even notice that. This is a great picture of me! That alone makes being the only person to dress up at work this year totally worth it!
On the other hand, I'm really rambling on way too long in these captions. Are you still with me? Was it worth it? Of course I'm worth it.

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

I bought new shoes today. Didn't take me long, except for finding the shop. I went into a bookstore close-by afterwards. When I got out, I tried some street photography just outside the bookstore.
I had to up the ISO to 400 to take this, hence the noise. She is a little out of focus but that was the best I could get with the autofocus. There's a dark spot on the lens that gets in the frame when I use the zoom, and it's getting really annoying. Cant' shake it off.
I watched The Social Network tonight at South Bank. Pretty good movie.

This is She's history goes back to Warped Tour 2009, when Alana Grace's earlier solo project was playing the same stages as After Midnight Project, which included members Ryan Folden -drums- and Christian Paul Meadows -guitar-. Grace found herself in need of a full band in 2011 and enlisted Folden and Meadows following the dissolution of After Midnight Project.
Following a few months of writing and recording, This Is She are ready to present their music to the world at large with the Nobody Is Ok EP, which was recorded in a few months in 2011 North Hollywood, CA, in the band's own studio.
This Is She relish in that universal "dark side," both in the themes of Grace's lyrics and in their musical style, which is a blend of blissful pop, heavily-distorted rock music, and the bombast of modern electronic dance music, all punctuated by Grace's tortured, emotive, and always-soaring vocals. Befitting of her own namesake, her lyrics and melodies are delivered with an air of simple elegance; the very definition of grace. Fuzzy bass lines, distorted guitars, propulsive drumming and electronic textures swirl around and engulf her voice. It's positively disorienting, but Grace keeps the songs grounded with her voice, acting like a glimmer of humanity and hope amongst a decaying wasteland of explosive noise. Some songs incorporate schizophrenic vocal samples that are entirely haunting before morphing into intense, mechanized dubstep-inspired breakdowns that sound like a Terminator's interpretation of rock music.
This is loud music; even when it's turned down, you're unable to block it out. It could never, ever be played as background music. Like Sleigh Bells or Public Enemy, the beats of these songs lock into place and explode like bombs while guitars come crashing down around you like high-rise buildings in a Michael Bay blockbuster. Call it rock; call it dubstep; call it action-packed blockbuster music; call it whatever you want, but don't think for one second that you will be able to ignore it. Whether you like it or not, This Is She will have your attention.
Hard Rock Cafe in Pattaya hosted the latest Dance Competition as groups from all across Thailand came to do battle!
The stage was set and the dancers were ready to let rip and wow, the quality of the dancing was incredible, it was so mesmerising and enjoyable to watch as these talented dancers pushed themselves to the limit!
Everyone who took part was a winner ion our eyes but as with every competition there has to be a winner and this years winners were Beatbox. Now what made this band incredibly good was not only were the amazing dancers but they had a trick up their sleeve.
At first it appeared as if there was a malfunction with the music set as chaos erupted as the dancers were looking confused and upset. What nobody realised was this was all part of the show and up stepped one of the best beat-boxers I have ever witnessed. He literally rocked the house down as he created this fast flowing music for the dancers to move to, it was amazing!!!
Congratulations to everyone who took part and a big thank you to the Hard Rock and their staff for hosting this amazing show!
We can't wait for next years competition already here in Pattaya!
