This is basically just me testing out a new way of post processing. Definitely more processing than I'm used to so it feels a bit weird, but I think it's good for me to try and wrap my head around other styles. Don't ask me what I did cause I really can't remember. It was about an hours worth of spaced out photoshop meandoring... Start with blending modes and dodge and burn a lot is what I can say (I work very destructively...)
Had my gear at my friends house, and was just out front messing around for the hell of it, so I know it's not the most creative shot out there. They dig it though. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this style.

PS. I've tried to work on the issues that were brought up in the notes. Hopefully they look better now. Thanks so much for the feedback guys. I appreciate it very much.

“It’s easy to see email as unwelcome obligation, but too rarely do we take that obligation to its logical if obvious conclusion: those obligations are increasingly akin to another job—or better, many other jobs. For those of us lucky enough to be employed, we’re really hyperemployed—committed to our usual jobs and many other jobs as well. It goes without saying that we’re not being paid for all these jobs, but pay is almost beside the point, because the real cost of hyperemployment is time. We are doing all those things others aren’t doing instead of all the things we are competent at doing. And if we fail to do them, whether through active resistance or simple overwhelm, we alone suffer for it: the schedules don’t get made, the paperwork doesn’t get mailed, the proposals don’t get printed, and on and on.
But the deluge doesn’t stop with email, and hyperemployment extends even to the unemployed, thanks to our tacit agreement to work for so many Silicon Valley technology companies.” ―Ian Bogost
“Email is the plumbing of hyperemployment. Not only do automated systems notify and direct us via email but we direct and regulate one another through email. But even beyond its function as infrastructure, email also has a disciplinary function. The content of email almost doesn’t matter. Its primary function is to reproduce itself in enough volume to create anxiety and confusion. The constant flow of new email produces an endless supply of potential work. Even figuring out whether there is really any “actionable” effort in the endless stream of emails requires viewing, sorting, parsing, even before one can begin conducting the effort needed to act and respond.” ―Ian Bogost
“The only difference between the despair of hyperemployment and that of underemployment is that the latter at least acknowledges itself as a substandard condition, whereas the former celebrates the hyperemployed’s purported freedom to “share” and “connect,” to do business more easily and effectively by doing jobs once left for others’ competence and compensation, from the convenience of your car or toilet.” ―Ian Bogost

Senhor do Espinheiro (porque está na antiga Praia do Espinheiro do lugar de Matosinhos do concelho e Julgado de Bouças) -
Localizado no sítio do Espinheiro junto ao atual Molhe Sul do porto de Leixões, o local onde, diz a lenda, terá dado à costa a 03/05/124, terça-feira (ano 164 da Era Romana), uma das 5 imagens de Jesus Cristo crucificado que tinham sido esculpidas em madeira da Judeia por Nicodemos (fariseu convertido a discípulo de Jesus, que conviveu com ele nos seus últimos dias) depois de este ter ajudado José de Arimateia a descer da Cruz e a embalsamar o corpo de Jesus Cristo e ter ficado com o Santo Sudário (ligaduras de linho perfumadas de mirra e aloés, que José de Arimateia colocou sobre o corpo de Cristo antes de ser sepultado, o qual possibilitou a impressão da imagem de Jesus);
é um alpendre edificado em granito com 4 arcos de volta perfeita abertos nas suas 4 fachadas que estão emoldurados por pilares e rematados no fecho por cartela com coroa (um frontão semicircular com fogaréu coroa cada uma destas faces), albergando um crucifixo ladeado pelos 4 Evangelistas (imagens pintadas de 4 Apóstolos de Jesus Cristo) e apresentando características barrocas que o leva a ser identificado como sendo do séc. XVIII;
ao centro, sobre um soco de 3 degraus, assenta o cruzeiro de braços quadrados, revestido a azulejos policromados numa das faces, em que se representa a imagem de Cristo;
defronte, foi edificada uma mesa de altar, também forrada com painéis de azulejo simulando tecido;
junto à estrutura do alpendre, num nível mais baixo do terreno, foi erigido um fontanário de espaldar em granito, protegido por guarda de ferro, que recria o modelo estrutural e decorativo do padrão, decorado com azulejos;
na base da cruz deste verdadeiro padrão da fé, inscreve-se a data de 162 (124 na Era Cristã) que corresponderia, segundo a lenda ao achado da imagem incompleta (sem o braço esquerdo);
no lado oposto, o número 50 refere-se ao espaço de tempo que, segundo a lenda, demorou a ser encontrado o braço que faltava (a 03/05/174, outra terça-feira) por uma idosa que andara a apanhar gavetos no Areal do Prado para acender a sua lareira;
no seu interior, destaca-se, ao centro, a imagem do Bom Jesus sobre um altar de azulejos;
no lado Norte,
'HEC (haec) VERA / PISCINA EST / LAVAMIMI'
('Esta piscina é verdadeira. Lavai-vos'),
no lado Oeste,
'HABETO (habete) FIDEM / MAIORA HIS / VIDEBITIS' ('Tende fé. Vereis coisas importantes'),
no lado Sul,
'HAVEAS /AQVAS / DE FONTIBVS / SALVATORIS'
('Que tenhas águas de fontes do Salvador')
e no lado Leste,
'OMNES / SITIENTES / VINITE (Venite) ADA (O) VAS 1726' ('Todos Vós que tendes sede, (vinde) Adão (?) Vas 1726';
No ano de 1755 para 1756, pagou-se 11$785 reis ao mestre ferreiro João Baptista pela obra da porta da fonte do Senhor do Padrão;
em 1790, pagou-se 1$100 reis por uma fechadura e chapa para a fonte do Senhor do Padrão e 12$800 reis a um pintor pelo retoque dos 4 Evangelistas;
em 1794, pagou-se 33$853 reis por uma Imagem de Azulejo para o Padrão e pelo frete do seu transporte de Lisboa para o Porto;
em 1797, pagou-se 12$605 reis pelo azulejo da Imagem do Senhor do Padrão;
em 1798, pagou-se 2$605 reis para assentar azulejo da Cruz do Senhor do Padrão e 108$290 reis por fitas para medidas da Igreja e do Padrão;
em 1800, pagou-se 15$405 reis por mais uma pintura dos 4 Evangelistas;
em 1812, pagou-se 12$575 reis a António José Vieira por novos azulejos pintados (Os azulejos pintados com a efígie do Bom Jesus, aplicados na Cruz, tiveram de ser substituídos, total e, por ventura, também parcialmente, atendendo a que foram feitas 2 encomendas de azulejos separadas por 3 anos, sendo a 2.ª encomenda de valor muito inferior ao da 1.ª);
na ata da reunião da Mesa Administrativa da Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Bom Jesus de Bouças, a 10/081884, encontra-se mencionada a quantia de 105 mil e 103 reis para a vedação da Memória (Senhor do Padrão);

I got tagged!
Oh & I haven't mentioned this cause I keep forgetting so I'll mention it now.
You guys have to listen to Crystal Castles new album! It's pure gold! If you guys haven't heard of them, you guys should google them or something. It's one of those bands that you don't even have to know the lyrics to enjoy, aha.
This one of my fave song from the new album:
-------------------
1. On the first day of first grade I was so frightened by the new enviroment that I snuck out of class and ran out of the school. The assistant principle & some teachers were chasing me until I reached this big street that I was scared to cross.
2. I gargle soda before I swallow it. Mainly with Coca-Cola & Pepsi. It just tastes so much better when I gargle and rinse it first.
3.My mom jokes around that it was my fault she stopped going to church when I was around five because when she would take me, I would run up to the front of the church & sit on the steps by the priest and when everyone was quiet I would start singing the Nightmare on Elm Street song.
4. I completely shaved my right eyebrow off last december out of curiousity . I wore animal band aids and drew a fake eyebrow with black sharpie for about a month.
5. I'm a huge little monster. I love that woman so much. Even though I went to the monsterball all alone, that didn't stop me from having one of the best nights of my life.
6. I've been bitched out by a group of angry drag queens.
7. I need a tripod. The lack of one can get deadly.
8. I don't have a best friend.
9. My favorite name is Bruno. I might legally change my name to that.
10. I'm Horde.
I tagged some random people. Let me know if you want to be untagged.

The "For Sale" Miniseries
"Garie Pebbles" is the fourteenth photo in a miniseries that I recently started. Over the next few weeks, I'll be covering all of my photographs available as prints on my website. I'll be uploading one every weekday (except Friday), as usual, but you'll find a lot more information on the photographs themselves - I might sneak in a few tutorials, quick tips, etc. It'll be great for new and old photographers alike - If you have any friends who might be interested, be sure to let them know! I'll be updating everything on my blog as well as my other social networks, so if you would prefer to follow it there, just click on one of the links above. :)
About "Garie Pebbles"
"Garie Pebbles" was taken from Garie Beach, in the Royal National Park. There are two theories of the origins of "Garie Beach". Garie is an Aboriginal word meaning 'sleepy'. The name could also be a deviation of the name of a bushranger called Geaty, who camped here.
Taking "Garie Pebbles"
Nikon D90 | Sigma 10-20mm
0.4 sec | f/13 | ISO100 | 11.5mm
"Garie Pebbles" was taken on a cold, gloomy, rainy day. In fact, walking back to the car from this shot involved getting drenched. It's proof (if any proof was needed) that sometimes to get the right shot, you're just going to have to get wet! Compositionally I love this shot -I feel the rocks are aligned perfectly, leading the eye through the image. The approached storm in the background adds that little bit of drama. I would have loved to have captured more to the left of the image, getting more of the coastline in. Unfortunately, I am no good at panorama stitching (help?!) and had to stick with just a standard wide-angled shot here.
Processing "Garie Pebbles"
I considered converting this shot to monochrome, but I felt the mood/atmosphere was lost. So I took the vibrancy down in Adobe Camera Raw, which gave the effect I was looking for. I also added a little more contrast, and some fill light to bring at the detail in foreground. Locally, I boosted contrast and clarity, and lowered the exposure of the sky, and added a small amount of exposure and clarity to the foreground. My lens was a bit dirty, so I cloned out some small imperfections in the sky. In Photoshop, I played around with the colouring, getting a balance between 'hot' and 'cold'. :)
