Coyote Willow Performing at Pine Fest Music Festival in Halfway Oregon
A spectacular Saturday on the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway for day Pine Fest - Halfway, Oregon with the award Coyote Willow.
Billed as the tiniest music festival in the tiniest town, Pine fest is one of our favorite fall events along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. We had a great day hanging out with locals and visitors from Oregon Idaho and Washington listening to a great line up of bands and musicians from throughout the Northwest at the Baker County Fairgrounds in Halfway.
Pine Fest is the largest musical festival in Halfway but the community also hosts a number of other musical events including the summer concert series on the Main Street Stage. For more information about Pine Fest including next year’s dates and performers visit www.pinefest.org
The town of Halfway is just one of numerous small towns along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway, a loop that encircles the Wallowa Mountains, intersecting with Interstate 84 at Baker City and La Grande, and communities all along the byway host a variety of festivals and community events throughout the year providing visitors a chance to celebrate local culture and visit with locals while exploring this incredibly scenic region of North East Oregon.
The byway is a popular destination for group tours and offers visitors a chance to experience small town Americana in small towns like Halfway, as they explore the rugged and spectacular Northeast Oregon landscape along the way.
The entire route is on a paved highway. Plan ahead - you'll find stretches of more than eighty miles without gas and with few services. A segment of the Byway between Joseph and Halfway closes with snow in winter, but allows access to winter recreation areas, offering a whole other kind of Northeast Oregon Adventure.

Lori Deiter and I made it to RGSP just after 8am...
We hiked from the Lake Rose parking lot down the Highland Trail, onto Glen Leigh, stopped at Waters Meet, continued on Ganoga Glen and back to the Lake Rose parking lot. Made it back to her vehicle around 1pm
Glen Leigh water flow is quite low, but Ganoga Glen seems to have a little bit more.

I used JPEG from camera so I can later do a comparison from Raw files to Tiffs then make HDR using custom settings from these tiffs and hopefully get more detail

In San Francisco's hillier neighborhoods, streets often surrender to stairs: a street simply ends and a staircase takes over. Park your car and continue on paw.
Among the best known of the city's stair-streets are the Filbert Steps, which hug Telegraph Hill. Old houses—many of them dating back to, oh, probably 1907 or thereabouts—line the stairs. Their gardens, the chattering of the wild parrots of Telegraph Hill, and the panoramic views of San Francisco Bay combine to create a natural oasis that will boost your heart rate in more ways than one.
Near the top of the FIlbert Steps is a small painted mural, a brass plaque at its base. The plaque's grammar is questionable, but its story of the human-canine bond is indisputable.
After adoringly befriending Dr. Bob Major, Ginger became "office dog" and vice-president of public relations for her master. Despite having flunked biting in training school, one can plainly see that this apricot teacup poodle is destined for reading success.

Matsumoto - Japan.
Matsumoto Castle, also known as the "Crow Castle" because of its black exterior, is one of Japan's premier historic castles. It is located in the city of Matsumoto, in Nagano Prefecture.
The keep (tenshukaku), which was completed in the late 16th century, maintains its original wooden interiors and external stonework. It is listed as a National Treasure of Japan.
Matsumoto Castle is a flatland castle (hirajiro) because it is not built on a hilltop or amid rivers, but on a plain. Its complete defences would have included an extensive system of inter-connecting walls, moats and gatehouses. (Cit. Wikipedia)

El Puente Monumental de La Arganzuela, también conocido como Puente de Perrault, es sin lugar a dudas, el lugar más fotografiado, visitado y recorrido de Madrid-Río.
Pasarela sobre el Río Manzanares, su forma de tirabuzón y sus dos brazos que suman 278 metros le hacen verdaderamente espectacular y futurista. Su cobertura, de malla metálica que brilla con el sol durante el día, y su iluminación nocturna permiten que este puente se vea prácticamente desde todo el Parque. Su pavimento interior es de madera y por él pueden circular bicicletas y peatones.
Desde un punto de vista práctico, el puente de Perrault une los distritos de Arganzuela – con entrada por el paseo de Yeserías- y Carabanchel - a la calle Antonio López.
Dominique Perrault, a quien este puente debe su sobrenombre, es el arquitecto francés de 57 años que ha diseñado y dirigido la construcción de este Puente que ha costado a la ciudad de Madrid 13,6 millones de euros.
En definitiva, toda una obra de nuestro tiempo, que con el paso de los años se convertirá sin duda alguna en uno de los iconos de Madrid.
Este puente es obra del arquitecto francés Dominique Perrault, al cual los madrileños debemos también la Caja Mágica. El puente unirá el Paseo de Yeserías y la Avenida del Manzanares, y será la puerta principal de entrada al parque de Arganzuela. La inauguración será el próximo 15 de abril, y como podéis observar en las fotos (20 de marzo de 2011) está ya muy avanzado. Tiene 250 metros de longitud y 5 metros de anchura, con carril bici, paseo para peatones y unas gradas para sentarse. El suelo es de madera y en el centro tiene grupos de farolas con varios focos.

Just a little tabelscrap I made during my SARS-CoV-2 build which proved to be ludicrously out of scale for that MOC. While too big for the main MOC, it's also too small to show any real detail but I've coloured the spike protein by protomer (red, green and yellow) to give a better idea of what it means for it to have a trimeric structure. Inspired by a much more detailed cryo-EM structure.
The human ACE2 receptor is coloured blue and is mainly present to give a simplistic overview of how the spike protein receptor interaction works, although this generally ignores all the conformational changes involved. The general shape is based on another recently reported cryo-EM structure with ACE2 as a chaperone in complex with B0AT1; an amino acid transporter. I believe this is only physiologically relevant in the kidneys and intestines and scientists are still unsure what effect the association has on coronavirus cell entry in those tissues.
