Let the games begin...
In fact, I "hate" those classical landmarks (too crowded)...but I couldn't miss this special one. A couple of weeks ago, my son david learned about the Romans in school and he knew a lot more about the Colosseum than me or my wife did. So it was quite a big deal for him.
The Colosseum, or the Coliseum, originally the Flavian Amphitheatre (Latin: Amphitheatrum Flavium, Italian Anfiteatro Flavio or Colosseo), is an elliptical amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman Empire. It is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman engineering.
Occupying a site just east of the Roman Forum, its construction started in 72 AD under the emperor Vespasian and was completed in 80 AD under Titus, with further modifications being made during Domitian's reign (81–96). The name "Amphitheatrum Flavium" derives from both Vespasian's and Titus's family name (Flavius, from the gens Flavia).
Capable of seating 50,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology. The building ceased to be used for entertainment in the early medieval era. It was later reused for such purposes as housing, workshops, quarters for a religious order, a fortress, a quarry, and a Christian shrine.
Although in the 21st century it stays partially ruined because of damage caused by devastating earthquakes and stone-robbers, the Colosseum is an iconic symbol of Imperial Rome. It is one of Rome's most popular tourist attractions and still has close connections with the Roman Catholic Church, as each Good Friday the Pope leads a torchlit "Way of the Cross" procession that starts in the area around the Colosseum.
The Colosseum is also depicted on the Italian version of the five-cent euro coin.
The Colosseum's original Latin name was Amphitheatrum Flavium, often anglicized as Flavian Amphitheater. The building was constructed by emperors of the Flavian dynasty, hence its original name, after the reign of Emperor Nero. This name is still used in modern English, but generally the structure is better known as the Colosseum. In antiquity, Romans may have referred to the Colosseum by the unofficial name Amphitheatrum Caesareum; this name could have been strictly poetic as it was not exclusive to the Colosseum; Vespasian and Titus, builders of the Colosseum, also constructed an amphitheater of the same name in Puteoli (modern Pozzuoli).
The name Colosseum has long been believed to be derived from a colossal statue of Nero nearby (the statue of Nero was named after the Colossus of Rhodes). This statue was later remodeled by Nero's successors into the likeness of Helios (Sol) or Apollo, the sun god, by adding the appropriate solar crown. Nero's head was also replaced several times with the heads of succeeding emperors. Despite its pagan links, the statue remained standing well into the medieval era and was credited with magical powers. It came to be seen as an iconic symbol of the permanence of Rome.
In the 8th century, a famous epigram attributed to the Venerable Bede celebrated the symbolic significance of the statue in a prophecy that is variously quoted: Quamdiu stat Colisæus, stat et Roma; quando cadet colisæus, cadet et Roma; quando cadet Roma, cadet et mundus ("as long as the Colossus stands, so shall Rome; when the Colossus falls, Rome shall fall; when Rome falls, so falls the world"). This is often mistranslated to refer to the Colosseum rather than the Colossus (as in, for instance, Byron's poem Childe Harold's Pilgrimage). However, at the time that the Pseudo-Bede wrote, the masculine noun coliseus was applied to the statue rather than to what was still known as the Flavian amphitheatre.
The Colossus did eventually fall, possibly being pulled down to reuse its bronze. By the year 1000 the name "Colosseum" had been coined to refer to the amphitheatre. The statue itself was largely forgotten and only its base survives, situated between the Colosseum and the nearby Temple of Venus and Roma.
The name further evolved to Coliseum during the Middle Ages. In Italy, the amphitheatre is still known as il Colosseo, and other Romance languages have come to use similar forms such as le Colisée (French), el Coliseo (Spanish) and o Coliseu (Portuguese).

Lori Deiter and I made it to RGSP just after 8am...
We hiked from the Lake Rose parking lot down the Highland Trail, onto Glen Leigh, stopped at Waters Meet, continued on Ganoga Glen and back to the Lake Rose parking lot. Made it back to her vehicle around 1pm
Glen Leigh water flow is quite low, but Ganoga Glen seems to have a little bit more.

She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic journey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

The 4C concept was debuted at the 2011 Geneva motor Show. Designed as a small lightweight, two seater mid engine rear wheel drive sports car. Slightly smaller than the Mito.
Designed by Lorenzo Ramaciotti at Alfa Romeo Centro Stile, using a carbon fibre tub, front rear crash box, and hybrid rear frame composed primaryly of aluminium with a weight of around 850kg. The 4C has a high quadrilateral suspension at the front and MacPherson struts in the rear.
Powered by an new all aluminium 1750cc S4 turbo petrol engine of 230bhp with a capacity to produce 300bhp. The engine will probably be used in the new Guilia. The 4C is equipped with six speed Alfa TCT Dual Dry Clutch Transmission, and can be operated via gearshift paddles on steering wheel. It also has an Alfa DNA dynamic control selector which controls the behaviour of engine, brakes, steering, throttle response, suspension and gearbox
The production car was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor
Show followed by the Essen Classica , the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the 2013 Frankfurt Autoshow, Production of 4C began May 2013 at Maserati's plant in Modena, with an expected production of up to 2500 units per year, with an upper limit of 3500 units per year, depending on the quantity of carbon fiber chassis that can be built by the supplier Adler Plastic
The car was designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo (Style Centre) and developed by Alfa Romeo. The chassis is composed of a central carbon fiber tub, with aluminium subframes front and rear. The carbon fiber tub is produced by TTA (Tecno Tessile Adler) in Airola, The entire carbon-fiber monocoque chassis ("tub") of the car weighs a mere 143 lb (65 kg). Front and rear aluminum subrames combine with the tub, roof reinforcements and engine mounting to comprise the 4C chassis giving the vehicle a total chassis weight of 236 lb (107 kg) and a total vehicle curb weight of just 2,465 lb
The production 4C uses a new all-aluminium 1.75 L (1,742 cc) inline 4 cylinder turbocharged engine producing 240 bhp with a combined fuel consuption of 42 mpg a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 160mph
The 4C Launch Edition was a limited and numbered edition, unveiled at the vehicle's launch at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle came in a choice of four paint colours (Rosso Alfa, Rosso Competizione tri-coat, Madreperla White tri-coat or Carrara White matt). 400 examples were reserved for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, 500 for North America and 100 for the rest of the world (88 delivered to Australia—in Rosso Alfa and Madreperla White only). Distinguishing features of the Launch Edition were carbon fiber trim (including headlight housings, spoiler and door mirror caps), rear aluminium extractor with dark finishing, Bi-LED headlights, dark painted 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloy wheels, additional air intakes on the front fascia, red brake calipers, racing exhaust system, BMC air cleaner, specific calibration for shock absorbers and rear anti-roll bar, leather/fabric sports seats with parts in Alcantara and a numbered plaque. Alfa Red coloured cars got matching red stitching on the steering wheel, handbrake, mats, handles and sports seats
In Europe the vehicle went on sale for 60,000 euros including VAT
The North American bound versions debuted at the 2014 New York Motorshow differing from their European siblings, with new head lights similar to those seen before in the 4C Spider version.. The cars also require extra bracing and strengthening required to meet U.S. crash regulations (including aluminium inserts in the carbon fiber chassis), resulting in 100 kilograms (220 lb) of weight increase.
The Spider version of the 4C was previewed showing a pre-production prototype at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show twelve monthe after the launch of the Coupe. Sharing its engine with the Coupé version, the 4C Spider has different external parts such as the headlights, exhaust and engine hood, as well as a different roof section that features a removable roof panel. The extra bracing required for strengthening the open top version and the hood mechanism itself increased net weight by 45 kg (99 lb) Top speed is quoted at 257 km/h (160 mph) and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) at 4.5 seconds.

These silos stand along Toronto's lakeshore and have been derelict and labelled a heritage site for several decades. They were originally soy bean silos and used for a variety of purposes. At one point a homeless tent city popped up on this property but nowadays there is a proper shelter in the neighborhood. The functionalism of the building design shows influence of early modernist architecture. As the Lakeshore is repopulated with condominiums and redesigned into communities instead of industrial sites, these silos will remain a reminder of the past!

Years ago, a friend told me a story from her childhood that I'd not heard before, and I think of it often. The story goes like this:
One morning, a little girl was looking across the valley from her house, admiring the beautiful golden windows on a house on the top of the hill.
"Mom," she said, "Do you see that house on the hill with golden windows? It must be so beautiful there, and the people who live there must be so wealthy! I'll bet they have no problems and their lives are filled with happiness every day. I wish OUR HOUSE had golden windows."
"Oh, darling," replied the mother, "no one's life is perfect. Even people who live in a house with golden windows."
"No, I think you are wrong! I want to go see for myself!" So the mother packed the daughter a lunch, and away the daughter went to cross the valley and see how wonderful life was for the people who lived in the house with golden windows.
The girl walked all day long. As she reached the bottom of the valley, she lost sight of the house but kept going. It was dusk by the time she reached the top of the other hill. But to her surprise, all she found was an ordinary house. She saw no golden ornaments, nothing that made the house look different or more special than any other house. The people looked ordinary, just like the people in her own family. She was puzzled.
Disappointed, she turned around to gaze at her own house across the valley she'd just crossed. And to her surprise, her house was ablaze with light. The windows shone with gold as the setting sun lit them up. In disbelief, she looked again at the ordinary house in front of her, then back to her house gleaming across the way.
"MY house has golden windows!" she said in amazement. She stood for a moment, struck by how beautiful her house looked from this side of the valley. She took off running back down the hill, eager to return to her family.

Maresme. Catalonia.
Check it out my Portfolio: GETTY IMAGES
Maybe you like this: / Facebook / 500px
Maresme's territory occupies a long and narrow area between the Mediterranean Sea and the hills of Serralada Litoral (Catalonia's coastal mountains), and specifically Montnegre's and Corredor's hills in the northern half and Sant Mateu's hills in the southern half. This particular shape has conditioned both the geography and the history of this comarca. Probably the main distinct elements of its geography are the characteristic rieres (torrents). These short, intermittent water streams, which cross the comarca transversally almost every hundred meters, produce powerful and dangerous floods when it rains.
Canet des de els Tarongers
Maresme has been historically very well connected with the rest of the comarca as well as with Barcelona thanks to old Camí Ral (Royal Way) (actual N-II main road) and railroad (The Barcelona–Mataró railroad route, finished in 1848, was the first ever in all the Iberian Peninsula). Communications were enhanced in recent years with the construction of the C-32's Barcelona–Mataró section (1969), which was the first autopista (highway) ever in Spain, and its subsequent enlargement, the Mataró-Palafolls's section (1995).

Oi gente!!
Eu amei e vcs me contem o que acharam. Foram duas camadas e por baixo o Casco de cavalo da Ludurana, que é muito bom por sinal.
Bjos e ótima semana ;**

Well do we have news for you… (:-D
Resulting from my latest visit to Singapore this week and the photo shoot we set up with my bro Philippe C.during my stay, we decided jointly to look into PP.. issues and take matters seriously... (:D into our own hands “so to speak” and create our very own processing approach that we have named : “Hallucinogenerix”.
Our theory goes like this... hang on...
Based on the saturation of lens “Aperture Mode Locking” AML and the self-amplitude “Time modulation coefficient” or TMC, Our work deals with the saturation of the lens Aperture mode locking mechanism. A quantitative description of TMC and the self-amplitude modulation effect in a laser cavity can be derived. Considering both the nonlinear and geometrical (curvature vector or CV) differences between lenses and camera sensors (full frame or not) we concluded that the “CV” differential relationship between cameras and lenses results in nonlinear light modulation.
The loss of the “Light Pulse Conformation Strength” or (LPCS) in a cavity due to “bleaching or excess or lack of light” creates a “Fast Saturation Absorbency” or FSA behavior of any type of camera and lens combination all together.
The “Intracavity Aperture Factor” or IAF specific to a given lens type produces the appearance of “FLICKERING” or image instabilities. Our goal was then to elaborate a formidable yet simple approach that allows the prediction of “FLICKERING” or image instabilities, and develop a post processing technique or method that can be as useful for short pulse laser cavity design in general than it is compared to a mouse pad - mouse relationship.
The obtained “Self-Amplitude Coefficient” or SAC is included within the TMC to which LPCS and FSA are added to give a ray-pulse matrix formalism, and a simple model for the temporal pulse parameters regarding only the self amplitude “Time Modulation Coefficient” or TMC can then be solve via a simple quadratic differential integration (Patent pending).
Our new “Hallucinogenerix” model sets a limit for the maximum pulse light energy of a stable solution for a given nonlinear modulation and “Camera Lens Combination” or CLC.
Our “Hallucinogenerix” post processing technique we are certain will soon become the newest and most revolutionary PP faved method yet we are certain. We simply baptized “ this new processing technique Lens Setting Dynamics” or “L.S.D.” (:D allows us not only to take night shots in broad daylight, but also gives us a stunning doubled and colored vision extremely useful for reflective photography. Combined with “ Hallucinogenerix” TM you are bound to see all sorts of colors in all sorts of way.
The above is the first of a series relating to this amazing Field and post-processing breakthrough.
