A windmill only a few years old could collapses with turning in the middle of the night. There was a soft breeze during the night but the cause is still under investigation.

All that remains of what was possibly a pioneers shack is the rusty iron roof and the brick and stone chimney.

C16 dwelling with crown post roof. The building is in a very poor condition and a flank wall is at risk of collapse. Listed Building Consent has been granted for repairs to the structure, and applications for Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent have been approved for works in connection with development for residential use. However, no works have yet been carried out.

But for the fact that the bell tower collapsed, leaving only the stub of a building (which is now a small shop), the Baroque church and square of Santa Maria Zobenigo are the same today. Canaletto took the license of peeling back the buildings opposite the church and along an adjoining footpath, or calle, so as to expose the entire facade. The fall of 2022 I did my 3rd major cycling tour. I began my adventure in Montreal, Canada and finished in Savannah, GA. This tour took me through the oldest parts of Quebec and the 13 original US states. During this adventure I cycled 7,126 km over the course of 2.5 months and took more than 68,000 photos. As with my previous tours, a major focus was to photograph historic architecture.

Here is the story to go along with the pictures.
These pictures are of the Deep Creek Bridge on the lower Cariboo Highway between Williams Lake and Soda Creek, April 27/29 1965. This tractor was originally a Gill rig. The new main highway at Deep Creek was washed out by heavy spring run off due to a too small culvert for Deep Creek to pass under the highway and was closed over 24 hours. Traffic was diverted to the old road but Deep Creek had undermined the bridge support and shortly after the S/B Greyhound bus crossed the bridge Jim Fentie, driving this 1952 Kenworth for Ray Boris with a full load for Kelly Douglas in Quesnel entered the bridge with this result. After much difficulty and D8 Cats on both sides of the Creek with cables passed from winch to winch, the rig was tight lined and slid on the cables to solid ground A Bailey Bridge was installed as a replacement and is still in service. Jim Fentie left Boris within 6 months after this incident and spent the next 35 years at TRIMAC.

Collapsed shelter, appears to have been caused by snow loading. The shelters had an inverted umbrella design so would have been great at catching the 20cm or so of heavy wet snow we had.
River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme.
These images were taken during the 3rd week of December, 2016.
On occasional check on works on-going close to the centre of Bray itself, in and around the Bridge.
This is a section of the flood protection scheme that I haven't covered in any great detail. Inconvenient for me to access, and others cover it much better.

Bray gets a riverside boardwalk as part of the final element of the River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme.
The boardwalk - similar to the one along the River Liffey in Dublin city centre - will be incorporated into the wall beside the Fran O Toole Bridge.
It will connect Castle Street to the Peoples Park and will be a welcome added amenity for Bray.
The boardwalk forms part of the final large works package for the River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme.
This part of the scheme runs from the People's Park to the Railway Bridge on the Little Bray side of the river.
The works consist of curved sheet piled walls approaching the railway bridge which will be faced with masonry and the construction of footpaths in this area.
There will also be a stone faced sheet pile wall along the Lower Dargle Road from beside the Fran O'Toole Bridge to the Peoples Park.
The work is very timely as part of the existing inner wall alongside the Lower Dargle Road was severely undermined and collapsed during a storm which occurred just before Christmas.
When the project is completed, Bray will be protected from a one-in-one-hundred year storm, including all the floods of the sort that would have ravaged the town in the 20th century, and a one-in-200 year tidal event.

These images shows the skeleton of the structure 'hanging' from the upgraded stone-clad wall, adjacent to Upper Dargle Road.
This part of the scheme runs from the People's Park to the Railway Bridge on the Little Bray side of the river.
On this particular day, the high water mark is actually caused by the high sea tide, pushing upriver from the Bray harbour estuary. This is not the result of waters running down-river from the nearby mountains. Hence the calm still appearance.

Sadly the weir collapsed on Friday morning.
It sounds hopeful that the money will be found to fix it though. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Time and weather have taken their toll on the abandoned Chemung mining camp. Many of the buildings have started to crumble and its only a matter of time before they all end up like this one.

All my girls except the AS body have sanded down nipples. The AoD body has been sanded in the torso, the Mirodoll has also had torso sanding and mods to the inside of her thighs.
Here they are ordered in terms of who I trust most to stand, beginning with the Model (sturdy!) and ending with the Mirodoll (strung loosely atm, tends to collapse) and the AS body (snaps heels together, twists at the hip, leans back).
