Arizona Black Rattlesnake (Crotalus cerberus)

Patagonia Mountains, Coronado National Forest, Santa Cruz County, Arizona

These little lizards are so cool -- they are quite tame in your hand (the biggest one I've ever found was only about 3-1/2" long). You can see their dinasaur ancestry, and just imagine if they were 20 feet long.

Neotropical Green Anole (Anolis biporcatus)

Sonoran Desert Tortoise (Gopherus morafkai)

Took this shot several years ago, in the dry creek bed near home. The toad spotted me, then froze (maybe thinking I didn't see HIM) allowing me to flop down on the ground, eye-to-eye, for several shots. He's a cool toad, I just wish I knew the scientific name. Anyone?

Timber rattlesnake from near my home. Wouldhave been a beauty if not for the old shed all over him. I have already found several of these this year. Early fall is usually my best time for both timbers and pygmys. This snake was a little over 4 feet.

Nezara viridula, commonly known as the southern green stink bug (USA) or green vegetable bug (Australia and New Zealand), is a plant-feeding stink bug. Although believed to have originated in Ethiopia, it can now be found around the world. Because of its preference for certain species of legumes, such as beans and soybeans, it is an economically important pest on such crops

Isla Santa Catalina Side-blotched Lizard (Uta squamata)

Snakes are elongate, legless, carnivorous reptiles of the suborder Serpentes that can be distinguished from legless lizards by their lack of eyelids and external ears. Like all squamates, snakes are ectothermic, amniote vertebrates covered in overlapping scales. Many species of snakes have skulls with many more joints than their lizard ancestors, enabling them to swallow prey much larger than their heads with their highly mobile jaws.
