Colas' 37099 waits for the right away at a wet Scunthorpe with 0247 Doncaster West Yard to Derby R.T.C.(Network Rail) working.
The larger than normal gathering on the opposite platform was due to the imminent arrival of 1Z85, a Cleethorpes to Liverpool Lime Street excursion.

High up the Lledr Valley and almost at the tunnel entrance the 3Q26 heads for Blaenau Ffestiniog behind 37219, 'Jonty Jarvis' making light work of the 1 in 60, and against the backdrop of Moel Siabod. It could be heard coming up the valley for nearly 5 minutes before it's arrival. A grand day for a walk up to the location and a pleasant time of conversation with another Bangor Lad!
37057 recently painted into Colas livery seen at Stanton Gate working the 1Q68 0208 York Thrall Europa - Derby RTC test train 5/6/21. (Taken using a couple of sections of pole)
Colas 70806 works south on the up fast of the WCML through Golborne with 6J37 Carlisle - Chirk Logs.

One of my favourite and most reliable workings was the relatively short lived contract Colas won to serve Aberthaw Power Station with imported coal. Here 70815 heads through Cadoxton with the empties. 4C21 0955 Aberthaw - Avonmouth.
There was a foot crossing at this location, which gave access to this view, but it's now been removed by Network Rail.
Colas Rail's 56105 is pictured crossing Slateford viaduct with 6K50 from Millerhill to Auchengray.
The load was a long train of ballast for the possession South of Carstairs around the Thankerton / Symington area in which 4,000 yards of track is being repaired after being damaged by a tamper a few weeks ago resulting in a temporary speed reduction for WCML services.
Colas Rail Freight Class 56 No. 56078 heads into Kidsgrove working 6K38, the 10:08 Basford Hall Yard – Bradwell Up Sidings on 10 January 2025.
Almost catching me unawares munching a corned beef and mustard sandwich, Colas Tug 60076 steadies the early running 08.55 Preston Docks Lanfina - Lindsey tanks (6E32) down the grade through Cornholme on a wintry 19th January 2015.
The splendid building at left is Frosthulme Mill - still in use albeit not for its original purpose. Plenty of snow in the field from which I took this - so much in fact there was a skier practicing her moves.
With intermittent sun but decent cloud I opted to go "sun wrong-side" for this shot of Colas Tug 60085 doing the honours at Helsby Junction this evening with the 11.59 Carlisle - Chirk Kronospan logs (6J37).
Always nice to see the splendid signal box there plus a hint of the station architecture which, although out of use, has been nicely restored as a Grade II Listed building.

"Eres de esos fotógrafos que para mi andáis varios escalones por encima del resto de nosotros, "los mortales".
Impecable, one more time. ;)".
Gracias, Gorka.

Colas Rail have picked up a fair bit of NR engineering workings by all accounts, which is fine by me if it means they are going to chuck a 60 on each end of a few autoballasters and send them down the Marches Line!!
By all accounts, they were supposed to be moving the HOBC, but I guess that was a bit of duff gen, still not to worry. 60096 leads 6C21 Crewe Basford Hall to Miskin with 60085 on the rear through Wistanstow, north of Craven Arms. The sun is shining, but only on the rear 60 and beyond... Saturday 8.8.15
