We all have cognitive biases that affect what information we internalise and remember. One of the most well-known cognitive biases is called "confirmation bias".
Confirmation bias describes the phenomenon where we are more likely to process the stimuli that match our existing beliefs.
Our brains work much like the infant game wherein the child fits the round pegs into the round holes and, in the process, learns that square pegs don't fit into round holes. Our brains are more likely to process and remember the stimuli and ideas that easily "fit" into our existing moulds.
These moulds are defined by past experiences, beliefs, ideologies, ethics, religion, etc.

The CGI Conference brings together classroom teachers, administrators, researchers, and professional developers from across the country. Educators develop and extend their understanding of CGI, learn about the latest research advances in CGI, and share about the impact CGI has on mathematics learning in PreK-6 classrooms.
The Cognitive Revolution Symposium took the Mental Work art-science exhibition as a starting point for reflection on the emergent future of human-machine interaction, focusing on promoting a culture of responsibility within the communities at the forefront of this revolution.
The symposium convened experts from BCI research, AI, neuroscience, ethics, international security, policy, social science, human rights, education, design, and communication, with two objectives: 1) Identifying and prioritizing ethical, social, and security dilemmas around the Cognitive Revolution; and 2)
Envisioning strategies to promote a culture of responsibility around those dilemmas.

Brain and Cognitive Sciences Complex
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Cambridge, Massachusetts
This new 412,000 SF research complex brings together three distinct research entities to create a world-class center for brain science. Programmed to contain a rich array of wet and dry laboratories and animal facilities supporting biology, biochemistry, neurobiology, behavioral and cognitive research, the Brain and Cognitive Sciences Complex is designed around a daylit, sculpturally-shaped atrium lined with tea rooms, faculty offices and terraces to foster interaction among the scientists.
Lead designer: Charles Correa Associates
Brain fog, a cognitive malfunction where you lose all focus and you can’t think straight, is a common occurrence that everyone experiences.
One of the many symptoms of one of my health conditions is a type of brain fog where it can get so bad I can lose the ability to even form sentences with my mouth or even function for periods of time.

As a Paris street photographer, I consider that visually speaking, mine is not to wonder why, mine is just to dev and dye.
It's sometimes difficult to put my cognitive faculties on pause as I wander the streets of this particular city, however, which was accused a while back of becoming a sort of 'living museum', its avant-garde reputation suffering greatly in comparison to the so-called new artistic meccas of New York, London, Berlin and the rest.
Which is poppycock if you ask me, and not only is there a plethora of exhibitions to enjoy, far more than it is possible to go to, by the way, but I am forever coming across the strangest expressions of, erm, creativity I suppose you could wish to find in a living and breathing artistically inspiring city.
You may or may not have heard of the Rue du Furstemberg and its charming little square nestled away in the 6th arrondissement, just a stone's throw from the bustling Saint-Germain-des-Prés district.
Well for the last 18 years or so it's been relatively calm and sleepy, all the times I've passed through it in any case. This is no longer so. Because slap-bang in the middle of the trees wondering if it's time to shed a few leaves stand... two what can only be described as sculptures, involving skeletons, sinews, and what can only be referred to as 'penii'. Oh yes.
Now while Delacroix's work can't exactly be labelled genteel, with his empassioned themes of violence and revolt, his museum itself, tucked away in a corner of the square, is a peaceful place indeed. What he would have made of these moderm pieces is anyone's guess, but be that as it may, here they are and here they be. The piece above is by sculptor Daniel Hourdé, is called 'Colin Maillard', and is part of an arty open-air effort in the streets of the district at the moment, as if it needed it, you might say. Very impressive.

Active railroad tracks run right through the MIT campus -- and even through a building, as here at the new Brain and Cognitive Sciences Complex. And as the trains rumble by, they blast their horns to warn motorists on the many streets they cross, as well.
"There's a certain grittiness about MIT that I've always liked," said Skip after one such train went by. (I didn't get a good shot of it.)
