Cog at The Hifi Bar June 2009

Cogs

: a tooth on the rim of a wheel or gear.

: a subordinate but integral person or part.

Made with a Finney pinhole lens cap on a Nikon FE, f180, Fuji Superia Extra 400, exp ? I used a light meter and the Black Cat extended range exposure guide.

My first attempt with this lens cap and film. Getting much closer to what I had hoped for from pin hole.

Looks much better here......

Cog Railway, Mount Washington NH

On Good Friday we went up to see the most famous of Rios icons, Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado. The queues were long and we still had to wait ages for a train but it was well worth the effort. The cog train goes up through the Atlantic Rainforest of the Parque de Tijuca.

I'm going to stop uploading pics. now because the drunk faces have just gone from unattractive to actually frightening.

I really don't like the cog railway. See how clear and beautiful blue the sky is? That's not how it looks when you look west. The cog is still coal fired and there is a smudge over the the Mt Washington Valley that ruins many a beautiful day in the Whites.
