The Severn Valley Railway would once again hold its annual Spring Steam Gala between the 18th and 21st of April 2024. This video covers the event on Friday and Saturday.
The visiting locos for this year's edition were ex-LSBCR/Southern/BR Terrier no. '72, Fenchurch,' ex-GWR/BR 1366 class no. '1369' —standing in for unavailable '813'— and ex-LH&JC/NBC 0-6-2 no. '29'; new-build GWR Grange no. '6880, Betton Grange' was due to be the star attraction, but was unavailable due to still being prepared for its first steamings, hence rebuilt West Country 'Taw Valley' being drafted back into temporary service to cover the duties 'Betton Grange' would've performed. A selection of the railway's home fleet was also in service.
Also in attendance was newly overhauled ex-BR built LNER A2 no '60532, Blue Peter', albeit on display at Kidderminster, after performing (and due for more) test runs on the line in preparation for mainline service with LSL later in the year. Also featured in this video is the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway.
Due to this video’s length, it has been broken down into ‘Chapters’ where certain parts of the video have been labelled correspondingly.

A UGV controlled remotely using Ibis Tek's radio and Energid Technologies' compression-decompression system (CODEC). The CODEC adapts to abrupt severe changes in network bandwidth and latency and allowed flawless non-line-of-sight execution.
Fist try of time-lapse experiment. Just playing with the Canon EOS SDK.
The quality is ugly, but it was the only codec Flickr found good enough for him. I have to find a nice codec and configuration "flickr-compliant". Any suggestion is welcome.

This is a portion of the shootout shot with my phone camera. It is in 3gp format. If you have difficulty playing it, perhaps you need to download a free player or codec so that you can play it. Google for 3gp and codec.
Macro photography is tricky enough without trying to capture motion, but I had a go any way :)
I was struck by how agile the bee is hopping from flower to flower. You can see his tongue go in and out, and you can see his head swiveling around to spot the next flower.
I never really thought about it before, but it looks like it might be fun to be a bee.
(The block artifacts in low contrast areas are due to flickr's codec, the original is clean...)

It weighs about 3 pounds with the battery and fisheye adapter which is pretty heavy, really. The wind kept cutting out so the flight was short!
This was not the highest, but it was the most steady. I need a picavet!

Taken 6-18-08. Rotated 90 and cropped due to mounting of the camera. Imported into FCP using the ProRes HQ codec at 1920x1080 29.97fps. Exported at 1/4 resolution Mpeg4-Video with a keyframe every 2 frames. Shot with a Cannon 720IS w/CHDK firmware. ISO80 1/2000 f8 2 frames per minute for 2 hours.

It's Children In Need Day in 2004 and CHR is running a collection for the BBC Children In Need appeal in the foyer of St Richard's Hospital in Chichester.
This group of strolling players includes CHR member Marielle Cottee and her Mother Ann on Guitar. The human Mic stand is Gem Ballantyne.
We set up a mobile studio in the reception area and broadcast live from there using a pair of telephone codecs.
Chichester Hospital Radio will celebrate it's 40th Anniversary in 2012 and this image is part of a collection gathered over the years.
From this archive we can look back and discover many familiar faces that are still with the association, all be it they are a little older, and a few absent friends that are sadly no longer with us.

MPlayer OS X is binary distribution of MPlayer (The Movie Player for Linux) and comes with native GUI in Mac OS X. What is TS?
“TS” is the abbreviation of Transport stream. It is a communications protocol for audio, video, and data which is specified in MPEG-2 Part 1, Systems (ISO/IEC standard 13818-1)
What is MTS and what is M2TS?
MTS and M2TS are included by AVCHD video. AVCHD (Audio and Video Compression for High Definition) is a high-definition and standard-definition recording format for use in digital tapeless camcorders.
About AVCHD video
AVCHD (AVC-HD, AVC HD) video is recorded using the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression codec. Audio is stored in either compressed form (Dolby AC-3), or uncompressed form (multichannel PCM). Aside from recorded audio and video, AVCHD includes features to improve media presentation: menu navigation, slide shows and subtitles. The menu navigation system is similar to DVD-video, allowing access to individual videos from a common intro screen. Slide shows are prepared from a sequence of AVC still frames, and can be accompanied by a background audio track. Subtitles are used in some camcorders to timestamp the recordings.

This one I pushed back in the DVE so that it was 100% wide and cropped the top and bottom. Didn't see any more or less noise or temporal issues vs. pixel for pixel and all sides cropped.
Can't really see a difference so will not post the pix for pix cropped version here. Available upon request.
