Snowy Egret with her feathers blowing in the Florida seaside breeze. This was taken on Lido Beach, Florida. Snowy Egrets have yellow feet to match the yellow on their faces and are sometimes called little dancers with yellow slippers
A Brown Pelican flying to his evening resting spot. Photograph taken in Naples, Florida, in December, 2013.
I photographed a pair of Great Blue Herons building their nest at the Venice Rookery near Venice, Florida. The male flew back and forth between the rookery island and the shore to find the best sticks. When he arrived at the nest site, the female would impatiently snatch them out of his beak as if to say, What took you so long?
This Ibis was one of several flying in and out of the trees as we walked by at Jungle Gardens in Sarasota, Florida. They were not too wary of all the tourists walking by, making it relatively easy to get a few shots of them. Until I got home and looked at the photos, I had no idea that Ibis had such big, beautiful, cobalt-blue eyes! The contrast with their salmon-pink faces and bills is stunning!
