The Canoochee River is one of the most enchanting rivers in Georgia, with its tea-colored swamp water contrasting with the white, sandy banks of the Coastal Plain. I read that the Canoochee has the reputation of supporting the most numerous and largest water snakes in Georgia. I didn't see a water snake on this short visit but I did see one snake, a Black Racer, and a small alligator.

Amazing views seen on a walk along the coastal path from Durlston castle back into Swanage, Dorset a few years ago.
For a change of scenery but still on the plant theme I take you to the Bass Coast, Kilcunda just near the trestle bridge where these lovely coastal plants along the cliff tops caught my attention.
As the ferry MV Coastal Renaissance leaves its berth the MS Coastal Celebration takes its place. The three coastal-class ferries do the Vancouver to Vancouver Island route. These ferries are roll-on, roll-off passenger vessels owned and operated by the Canadian company BC Ferries. The ships have a max capacity of 1604 passengers and 310 cars. They are among the largest double-ended ferries in the world, the crossing takes about 1.5 hours.
Some Hare's Tail Grass seedheads danced nicely along the trail at Point Reyes National Seashore.
Thanks to Carol for ID as Hare's Tail Grass, a species from the old world naturalized in the United States.
The Milky Way will always be one of my favorite subjects. Spending time in the dark, playing with light, taking a moment to contemplate your place in the universe. My problem in the mountains is finding a place dark enough to properly capture it, and get colors out of it. I had been wanting to head to the coast and try it out on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I couldn’t get to the island I wanted to get it from… but after I argued that I didn’t want to go up here, I was convinced to go to the top of 4x4 Road on the beach, after dark. I was shocked to find, that despite being surrounded by lit beach houses, it was more than dark enough to create this exposure. It was an excellent time, I had a blast creating this. As an additional note… I would like to apologies to everyone I ever made fun of because they were swarmed by midges…. I understand now, and I am so sorry.

A magnificent navigator, the kolea, or Pacific golden plover, annually migrates from Alaska to tropical Pacific islands on a high endurance non-stop flight of 3 to 4 days over thousands of miles of featureless open ocean. Using the stars and the earth’s magnetic field (perhaps visually with quantum entanglement) to find the exact same nesting and wintering locations semiannually. This one winters in Hawaii. Some will continue their migration into the southern hemisphere as far as New Zealand.

Experienced a wonderful sunset at this place a few weeks ago, and decided to see how this composition would look like with the last golden light of the day! I quite like it, and hope you do as well☀️
Captured in: North Topsail Beach, NC.
Pictured here is a view down the North Topsail shoreline shortly after sunrise. Mother nature was kind enough to give us a beautiful show on the last morning of our trip.

A long exposure shot of the entrance to Rye harbour, Sussex. A B&W 10-stop filter gave a 1 minute exposure. I had no tripod with me that day, so made do with resting the camera on my back-pack lying on the pebbles.
I have a heap of collages that I've played with over the months, but never posted so I thought, given I'm in a bit of a "shooting lull" I'd bring some out of the closet :)
This is by Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. Maine has many picturesque lighthouses but my wife and I were limited to five day stay because trying to find a long favorable weather window is hard enough to get and Maine is a big enough state that to catch all the scenic sights would require more days and a lot of road miles and burning gas. Getting to this spot required an hour and half drive along local roads from the interstate and along the way I made a couple of wrong turns going down narrow local roads and the houses went from very nice to really run down places. I was tempted to stop along the road to document some examples of rural poverty but in this state there are more gun stores than McDonalds. Also considering some of the stories we had in the news where people have pulled into the wrong driveway and gotten blown away by trigger happy idiots I wasn't about to take the chance. My paranoia was further fueled when I passed one house and this guy had like a 10 by 15 foot wooden sign on his front yard that said in like three foot letters F**K BIDEN in bold caps and the first thought that came into my mind was good God don't let the car break down here. But I found the main road again and this was a very beautiful coastal spot and I would recommend this as a stop to anyone that comes to this part of the world.
