M44 Beehive Cluster in Cancer. 25 March 2017. Stack of a dozen 30s - 1 min exposures at ISO 1600, processing in Deep Sky Stacker followed by Gimp. I tried some longer exps but the light pollution got in the way too much.

Some say it should be called Wal-E to update with the times! I think "Five Alive" from the movie "Short Circuit" would be appropriate also! ;)

A clustered golden cane is one of the most common palms that you see around Darwin.
When it gets enough sunlight, the leaves turn a beautiful golden yellow. That means it is healthy.
You do see them in sheltered gardens and rainforests and in that case they are a rich dark green and have no gold colour.
These are so easy to make! I melted chocolate in a bowl, and then added ingredients to make the clusters. Some have mini-marshmallows, slivered almonds, coconut, and peanuts.
I mixed the ingredients in the bowl w/ the melted chocolate, and then spooned the mixture in clusters onto waxed paper. They went into the fridge for about 15 minutes, and then they were nice and firm. I took them out, drizzled some chocolate on the top, and then they were done.

This is a summer shot of my wisteria cluster blooms in my backyard! I
just can't get enough of these beauties, they remind me of hanging grape clusters.
Coleson Cluster was the third neighborhood built back in the mid-1960s, designed jointly by Reston founder Bob Simon and nationally recognized modernist architect Chloethiel Woodard Smith (who also designed Waterview Cluster, as well as many notable commercial and residential buildings in the DC area). Set off from main streets and nestled amid towering oaks, the cluster embodies the small-town, European vision Simon had in mind when envisioned Reston.
With 45 units, the cluster is designed with large front patios that extend to the public walkways. And each grouping of townhouses shares a carport. Both promote neighborly interaction, something that the residents love about their cluster.
The townhouses are easily identified as a Woodard Smith design with her signature floor-to-ceiling windows on each level of every house, at least one set of sliding glass doors, brick exteriors, and flat roofs. Walking through this cluster feels like walking down a street in Italy.

Swamp chestnut oak (Quercus michauxii)- York Co., VA. Deciduous oaks are notoriously difficult to distinguish based on twigs alone, but they all generally have buds clustered near the tip of the stem.

A more specifically American set of values is a cluster related to our emphasis on the individual.
That individualism is the opposite of the emphasis on extended family . . . for many other societies. An American's sense of self-worth is measured by his/her own achievements, not by the collective achievements of the extended family to which he/she belongs.
We are taught to be independent and to rely on ourselves. Independence, invidualism, and self-reliance are all praised as virtues, and the opposite traits of dependence, inability to stand on one's own feet, and inability to take care of oneself are disparaged.
In fact, for Americans a dependent personality is a clinical diagnosis used by psychiatrists and psychologists, and labeled Mental Disorder number 301.6 by the American Psychiatric Association, to identify a condition requiring treatment, whose goal is to help the regrettably dependent individual achieve the American virtue of independence.
