Aernnova is a leading global tier 1 company, which designs and fabricates large and integrated aerostructures such as wings, stabilizers and fuselage sections for civil and military aircraft.
On the night of 26 to August 27 at same time of its first approaching to Earth, the 2009-P1 Comet Garradd could be seen transiting quickly at less than 0.2º northeast of globular cluster M 71 into the Arrow constellation. The comet shows a fuzzy tail, and shinning with a magnitude around 7.5 will be seen through binoculars until 2012 March.

Located about 60,000 LY from both our solar system and the galactic center, M53 is an 'outlying' globular cluster and one of the more distant. It is a class-V, with a bright compact central nucleus and a linear diameter of 220 LY.

The 6MSP is the formal diplomatic meeting of the 119 States—which as to the date of meeting—had accepted the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions, including 19 Signatories.
Coleson Cluster was the third neighborhood built back in the mid-1960s, designed jointly by Reston founder Bob Simon and nationally recognized modernist architect Chloethiel Woodard Smith (who also designed Waterview Cluster, as well as many notable commercial and residential buildings in the DC area). Set off from main streets and nestled amid towering oaks, the cluster embodies the small-town, European vision Simon had in mind when envisioned Reston.
With 45 units, the cluster is designed with large front patios that extend to the public walkways. And each grouping of townhouses shares a carport. Both promote neighborly interaction, something that the residents love about their cluster.
The townhouses are easily identified as a Woodard Smith design with her signature floor-to-ceiling windows on each level of every house, at least one set of sliding glass doors, brick exteriors, and flat roofs. Walking through this cluster feels like walking down a street in Italy.

This little plant is a new one we got this year. It produces clusters of star shaped purple flowers most of the way up the stems. This little plant will attract hummingbirds.

Messier 5 @ 300mm x1.6 as seen from Houston, TX. Stacked from 225 exposures (1s f/5.6 ISO800 each) with 25 dark frames using DeepSkyStacker. The star cluster is located in the constellation Serpens (Caput) of apparent magnitude 6.65, and can be seen near the center of this picture. On the original size individual stars near the edge are identifiable.

Kampong Phluk (Floating Village)
Kampong Phluk is a cluster of three villages of stilted houses built within the floodplain of the Tonle Sap about 16 km southeast of Siem Reap. The villages are primarily Khmer and have about 3000 inhabitants between them. Flooded mangrove forest surrounds the area and is home to a variety of wildlife including crab-eating macaques. During the dry season when the lake is low, the buildings in the villages seem to soar atop their 6-meter stilts exposed by the lack of water. At this time of year many of the villagers move out onto the lake and build temporary stilted houses. In the wet season when water level rises again, the villagers move back to their permanent houses on the floodplain, the stilts now hidden under the water. Kampong Phluk's economy is, as one might expect, based in fishing, primary in shrimp harvesting.
Kampong Phluk sees comparatively few foreign visitors and offers a close look at the submerged forest and lakeside village life as yet unperturbed by tourism. The area can be reached by boat from the Chong Khneas or by a combination of road and boat. Make arrangements through your guesthouse of tour operator, or charter a boat at the Chong Khneas docks (starting at $35 return for a half-day at the village). By road/boat, take a car or moto to Roluos village just off Route #6 east of Siem Reap and the take a boat through the flooded forest the rest of the way to the village. During the dry season the road is clear and you can drive all of the way to the village.

Thirteen days after these photos were taken, these native plants, which had been carefully nurtured by a more knowledgeable naturalist, were mowed down by "restoration" personnel, perhaps assuming that any thistle they see is invasive, or somehow otherwise unworthy.
