I'll tell you the story of Cloony the Clown
Who worked in a circus that came through town.
His shoes were too big and his hat was too small,
But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all.
He had a trombone to play loud silly tunes,
He had a green dog and a thousand balloons.
He was floppy and sloppy and skinny and tall,
But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all.
And every time he did a trick,
Everyone felt a little sick.
And every time he told a joke,
Folks sighed as if their hearts were broke.
...
One day he said, "I'll tell this town
How it feels to be an unfunny clown."
And he told them all why he looked so sad,
And he told them all why he felt so bad.
He told of Pain and Rain and Cold,
He told of Darkness in his soul,
And after he finished his tale of woe,
Did everyone cry? Oh no, no, no,
They laughed until they shook the trees
With "Hah-Hah-Hahs" and "Hee-Hee-Hees.
...
And while the world laughed outside.
Cloony the Clown sat down and cried.

Signs like this all over town indicated that the circus was about to arrive. After setting up in Royal Park (on the river side of the flood barrier), and several shows into their season, the rains came.
They all said the same thing.... "You can't dress up like a clown... someone is going to shoot you!" SO, of course.... after hearing that several times from several different people... yeah.... that made me want to do it even more (not the getting shot part.... just the part where everyone told me that I couldn't do it. So I had to. And I did.)
Nothing creepy... nothing scary. Just me... clowning around... in my favorite window.... full of simple clown goodness!

This is a super close-up portrait of a Ruddy Turnstone sandpiper. He appears to still have much of his breeding coloration, so I am assuming he only recently arrived from the breeding grounds in the arctic. I took this shot on the Barnegat Jetty, where there was a group of about eight Turnstones lazily hanging out on the rocks. These birds will likely stay around all winter, as I have seen them there in January and February. Gotta love the clown-like coloration facial coloration on these shorebirds. Very attractive in my opinion. View large for best Clown- Face (aka Ruddy Turnstone) experience.

Clown Duck - How low is low enough? The new articulating screens on the new cameras are actually surprisingly handy to get eye level with the water without ruining my neck/back/shoulders as I used to do several years ago.
