January 20, 2020 - Our second Plan A was to land on Penguin Island since the first plan A was to land on Turret Point but do to heavy swells we needed to switch our planned itinerary. The Zodiac ride to Penguin Island was long and choppy due to large waves.
Penguin Island is an oval shaped ice free island located off the south coast of King George Island in the South Shetland Archipelago. The island's most prominent feature is the 594 feet Deacon Peak which is a dormant volcano.
I climbed to view the crater of the volcano but didn't climb to the highest point. I saw the following fauna: Brown skua and on the beach was a Southern Elephant Seal. I also saw an Antarctic Fur Seal swimming along the shoreline.
May 25, 2025 - The tall building in this photo is the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts. The building in front is now The Capital Suites Hotel when opened in 1984 it was the Picket Suite Hotel and in 1995 it became a Doubletree Guest Suites. Not sure when it was renamed to the current name. Columbus, Ohio

July 30, 2024 - Visit to the Ohio State Fair on the grounds of the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Well into September and humid, stormy weather continues. A lot of outdoor plans have been altered for a lot of us. I'm fortunate to have learned that photography is an all-weather activity.
