Affectionately called, “The Bean” and what has become synonymous with the Chicago experience is Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate. Cloud Gate was created using computer technology to cut 168 massive stainless-steel plates into precise shapes which were then pieced together like a puzzle and welded shut.

Visitors to Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate, colloquially known as “The Bean”, are reflected in its polished chrome surface at Millennium Park, Chicago.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Reflection Of 2020. At one of the top tourist attractions in one of the largest cities in the United States. Plenty of time to Reflect. Cloud Gate is a public sculpture by artist Sir Anish Kapoor.

Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate, colloquially known as “The Bean”, bends and reflects nearby buildings at Millennium Park, Chicago.

Inspired by liquid mercury, Cloud Gate it is one of the world’s largest permanent outdoor art installations. Its stainless-steel surface highly reflects the activity and lights of the park and surrounding city skyline, inviting visitors to touch and interact with its mirror-like surface and see their image reflected from a variety of perspectives.

Chicago’s Blue Cross-Blue Shield Tower and 340 on the Park rise above Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate, colloquially known as “The Bean”.
