Chor und Hochaltar
Choir and high altar in St. Michael's Church in Vienna
"The high altar was designed in 1782 by Jean-Baptiste d’Avrange. It is decorated with the monumental stucco alabaster Rococo sculpture Fall of the Angels (1782) by sculptor Karl Georg Merville. It represents a cloudburst of angels and cherubs, falling from the ceiling towards the ground." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_Saint_Michael,_Vienna
The first impression of Flåm is the little church at the entrance of the village.
If you like the shot I recommend this set to you:
Water runs down my street after last night’s intense 10 min downpour complete with strong winds and hail. No water entered anyones homes as far as I know. The white stuff on the edge of the lawn is hail. This photo was illuminated by a lighting bolt. I didn’t photograph the lighting itself but it gave an eerie green glow to the photo.
* Pianura Padana / Modena.
*
****
At some point the sky has become dark, there have been even more tornadoes in the Bolognese.
The wheat / wheat fields looked like they had waves.
This kind of weather is not new at this time of year.
The sky is just like the original, like the light effect on the field.
*
How and when they are formed: The clouds that give rise to storms are formed by the difference in temperature between the ground and the sky and the convergence of different masses of air in a particular point of the territory. In the summer, when the sea waters are warmer, and in the first months of autumn, when the air temperature starts to fall, these phenomena are more frequent, because the difference between air masses (the wet and warm one present in the seas and the colder one in the upper layers of the atmosphere) increases.
North Norfolk - Morston Quay - The rain on the horizon became a cloudburst some minutes later. It absolutely fell down but the storm produced a wonderful rainbow which touched the horizon at each end - so, two pots of gold?
Time to reflect and take in the serenity of Elvion, while I look for new lands to explore and new adventures .

Hello earth
Hello earth
With just one hand held up high
I can blot you out
Out of sight
Peek-a-boo,
Peek-a-boo, little earth
With just my heart and my mind
I can be driving
Driving home
And you asleep
On the seat
I get out of my car
Step into the night
And look up at the sky
And there's something bright
Traveling fast
Just Look at it go
Just Look at it go
Hello earth
Hello earth
Watching storms
Start to form
Over America
Can't do anything
Just watch them swing
With the wind out to sea
All you sailors
(Get out of the waves, get out of the water)
All life-savers,
(Get out of the waves, get out of the water)
All you cruisers,
(Get out of the waves, get out of the water)
All you fishermen
Head for home
Go to sleep, little earth
I was there at the birth
Out of the cloudburst
The head of the tempest
Murderer
Murderer of calm
Why did I go?
Why did I go?
Tiefer, tiefer
Irgendwo in der tiefe
Gibt es ein licht
Go to sleep little earth

. . . into the cloudburst overhead
I wanna get my face wet
It's been buried in the sand for years
(Headlong) into the cloudburst naked
There's really no escaping it
There's gonna be a cloudburst here . . .

Getaway to The Getaway!
Trying to catch the wind and sea air to send to Jane.
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying

Aberdeenshire was looking beautiful today ...... but half an hour later we were soaked by a cloudburst. Worth it though!
At the end of a refreshing cloudburst at the Film Festival in front of the Vienna City Hall. In the background you can see the Burgtheater.

Scottish Highland weather can be as dramatic as it can be changeable. View down Loch Maree from Tollie Farm, Nr Gairloch in the evening light. Oh to be there again it's just so magic.
I went out between passing showers, and caught this snail 'flat out' and scurrying to find a dry place before the next cloudburst. Good thing it didn't have far to go..... :))
Happy Snail Saturday!
Take time to relax and enjoy your weekend :)
I don't know what this is
but you got me good
just like you knew you would
I don't know what you do
but you do it well
I'm under your spell
you got me begging you for mercy
Why wont you release me?
break it down!

The Storm Approaches...
Up and out by 5.00 am just ahead of the sunrise, greeted by a cloudy, stormy morning; heavy, large raindrops fell like blobs from the sky. each one exploded like large water balloons on the pavement and grass at my feet...
The turbulent sky roiled and boiled in front of my lens; as i braved the wind and the rain to snap this photo. then came the deluge and a sudden mad dash for home.

Number four in my theme for this week Raindrops and Rain. Taken during at Seaford, East Sussex, UK in 2017. A cloudburst running down my windscreen.
Another one from a VERY rainy night in Norfolk. A few minutes after this there was a cloudburst and it poured down.
A rainstorm moves across the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado. From our May trip to the Southwest. Colorado and New Mexico are benefitting from a wet winter and monsoonal rain this summer, leading to lowered wildfire risk. Let's hope that the Pacific Northwest receives some much needed rain soon.
Hope you have a good start to your weekend. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all. Still catching up ...

Captured in 830 nm cutoff infrared with a converted camera.
Heavy downpour sweeping across the landscape.
The storms this afternoon had little lightning but did bring hail.
The cloudburst had great lighting late in the afternoon from the Sun out of frame to the right.
Drew let me know that the 664 local [or M-EDYGAL, whatever they wanna call it today] had a pair of warbonnets on it so when I saw that the light was going to be gone before it got to Ottumwa, I headed over to Monroe-Wapello Road to see what I could see. As we waited the clouds were threatening to make the scene completely dull, but as the train was given permission to leave, they started to thin. And by the time it got moving a small cloudburst dropped a light rain on us creating a really bright, textured scene. I'm not sure I've ever shot in golden hour backlit rain like this before, but I really dig the sunshower effect.
