this just happened... I looked out the window of my house, saw the clouds, hauled ass to the beach and snapped this moment. I wish I was there about 15 minutes earlier and had my wide angle lens on me!
Sorry for the back to back sunset postings... but when you live in a town like this, what can you expect?

Oh those blue skies are very nice
but if you stop to think twice,
by clouds they are enhanced
and they keep us all entranced.
When fascination takes root
photographs we must shoot,
and with camera in hand
we will wander the land.
When we start to obsess
of cloudscapes to possess,
life takes on a new meaning
and there’s no time for cleaning!
The weather may be foul or fair
but there’ll still be clouds up there,
and we can take photo’s galore
then stop, to take just one more.
Of our collections we are proud
especially that elusive cloud,
and to catch an optical effect
can really make our day perfect.

I don't know what kind of clouds these are that I shot on yesterday morning's walk, but they presaged much needed rain.
EDIT: Someone in the Cloud Appreciation Society on Facebook says these are altocumulus with perhaps some mammatus in the lower right.

I invite you to stroll through My Galleries.
for documentary purposes, I took a picture of the spontaneous cloud cover last night.
while I was taking this picture, I was surrounded by owls and bats and wolves (all based on auditory clues only).
Before it got here there were some seriously cool clouds blowing around. Unfortunately they never look as good in two dimensional pictures as as they do in the real 3D world.
On the other hand, in pictures the wind doesn't blow the ceiling down on my head....
Clouds having a nice elongated shape with a bit of land, taken while I was walking, to test my new polarizing filter.
