Every cloud has a silver lining.

The setting sun. Thought I missed it tonight but the clouds were not all the way down to the horizon allowing the sun to show through a small gap before setting. Settings for this photo are ISO 200 for 1/1000 sec with an aperture of 6.7 at 300mm

I love them when they're pendulous like that.

Last time I saw thunder this large or fast was in Hong Kong… whoa.

Sunrise with Golden Clouds

From flight from Beijing to London, June 2016.

I don't want any yes-men around me. I want everybody to tell me the truth even if it costs them their jobs.

Butting heads with my new computer, Windows 10, and Photoshop CC 2015. The colors here are far warmer than they look within Photoshop. So frustrating!

Beautiful weather today so stopped off on the way home from todays wedding to grab a personal shot of the beautiful sky.

As I was awaiting sunset (as well as the “second sunset”), I wanted to capture the interesting cloud cover that was burgeoning directly behind me. As I was down to my last few frames of Velvia on my primary camera, I reached for my 35mm loaded with 400-speed color print film (well, maybe not the best film for recording vivid colors and contrast) and took a couple of hand-held exposures. Though the image is a little grainy, I liked the warm colors that were recorded here as the sun was inches away from the sea. :-)

Summer Vacation 2014

I was planning to go to the coast to capture some seascapes, but we wouldn’t make it in time. We pulled over at the beginning of Waikoloa road and I ran through the bushes to setup a timelapse of Kohala Mountain. It’s not very common to see Haleakalā Mountain of Maui from here. Kohala Mountain is on the far right, and Maui is in the distance.

Mamiya 645 Pro TL, Sekor C 45 mm. Tmax 100.

Early on in the evening (this will have been around 7 p.m. I think) the clouds were magnificent.

look. and look.
