Jerry and Gayle Robertson run BOLT System, a Nashville, Tennessee-based provider of cloud-based fleet management software. When developing the fleet management system for trucking firms, they applied lessons learned when they worked as executives in the high tech industry. They also researched the industry and talked to shippers, fleet operators and drivers, and took on one other task that proved effective as it was unusual and complex. They started – and ran – a trucking company to fully test the system. Jerry even got a CDL and drove trucks.

Was itching to get back out in the hills this weekend again. But I didn't like the look of the forecast, the winds speeds are too high (for me anyway) and the cloud base predictions too low. Maybe next weekend but the long term forecast suggests if anything the wind speeds will pick up. Anyway I had a couple of wanders up my usual wee hill just to keep the old legs going, and boy was it bitterly cold, particularly today with a strengthening easterly breeze. Took this hand held shot with the wee G1 as the light faded.

Forensic Architecture is a research agency comprising architects, artists, filmmakers, journalists, lawyers, scientists, and software developers that investigates state and corporate violence. The agency’s investigations employ pioneering techniques in the fields of spatial and architectural analysis, open source investigation, and immersive technologies. The FA team investigates, explores, and exposes how power reshapes the very air we breathe. Tear gas is used to disperse bodies gathering in democratic protest, white phosphorus and chlorine gas are used to spread terror in cities, herbicide is sprayed from airplanes to destroy fields and displace those whose livelihood depends on them, arson is used to eradicate forests for industrial plantations. Mobilized by state and corporate powers, toxic clouds colonize the air we breathe. Cloud Studies brings together eight recent investigations by Forensic Architecture, each examining different types of toxic clouds and the capacity of states and corporations to occupy airspace and create unlivable atmospheres. Combining digital modelling, machine learning, fluid dynamics, and mathematical simulation in the context of active casework, it serves as a platform for new human rights research practices directed at those increasingly prevalent modes of “cloud-based,” airborne violence.
"Forensic Architecture" won the golden Nica at the Prix Ars Electronica 2021.

North Wales. Light and shade. Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) as seen from the shore of Llyn Llydaw. The ruined buildings are the remains of the Britannia copper crushing mills. There was much hope and money spent on copper mining in the area but nobody made much money. The white streaks you see in the rocks, (they drove me to distraction when I saw them in my first photos of this area, thinking they were cotton threads in the camera) are quartz seams. Soon after this shot was taken, the shade won and I began to beat a rapid retreat to the safety of Pen Y Pass before a descending cloud base.

I recently received a request to make a pair of cloud shoes for the owner of an Enchanted Doll. I was surprised to learn how tiny ED's feet are. Needless to say, I had to create a new cloud base and calculate the shrinkage rate of porcelain. Through trial and error I think I got the right size. I won't know for certain until I ship them out and they are placed on those tiny, regal feet. I included a comparison between my doll's feet and ED's feet, the difference is remarkable.

This was taken by me at London Heathrow airport at the hold (block 81) for runway 10R in 1981. We were in a Pa23 Aztec aeroplane in very poor weather awaiting takeoff clearance. A British Airways BAC 111 jet and Hawker Siddeley 125 executive jet also await departure from block 81. A Boeing 727 of Icelandair is seen just before Vr on its departure run. The weather was heavy rain and 200 foot cloud base.
We were in a PA-23 Aztec trying to get out of Heathrow to Fairoaks where the parking was 1000 times cheaper! On this occasion the low cloud base stopped us on the runway. We fast taxyed (60kts) down 10 right back to the (then) light-park (now terminal 4).

During the Clouds, Aerosol, and Precipitation in the Marine Boundary Layer (CAP-MBL) field campaign on Graciosa Island, the Vaisala ceilometer (VCEIL) was used to measure cloud-base height at up to three levels and potential backscatter signals by aerosols. The ceilometer transmits near-infrared pulses of light, and the receiver detects the light scattered back by clouds and precipitation.
